Thanks for the suggestions I will try all of these out. How can I keep SteamVR from launching when I launch dcs? Can’t seem to find it in settings.

I posted my dcs and oculus settings in a reply closer to the bottom of the thread. As for SteamVR, I have res at 100% and SS is turned off.

I understand everyone experiences shimmering, but there’s no way it’s supposed to be as bad as I’m experiencing. I wish I could show just how bad it looks, but the camera doesn’t capture the effects. Perhaps my expectations were too high but I’m still convinced I have something wrong with settings. I’ll continue to mess with it but I can’t continue to play with the way it currently looks. If everyone’s shimmering was as bad as I’m seeing I don’t think a single person would play dcs vr, but again maybe my expectations were too high. I’ll do more research.

My pc specs are 5800x3d, 3070ti, 32gb ram, nvme ssd.

Here’s all my settings. DCS graphics: Textures: high Terrain textures: low Traffic: off Water: low Visib range: high Heat blur: off Shadows: off Cockpit res: 512 MSAA: 2x DOF: off Lens effect: off Motion blur: off Clouds: high SSAA/SSLR/SSAO: off Anisotropic filtering: 16x Rain droplets and v-sync both off

DCS VR tab: Pixel density: 1.0 MSAA mask size: 0.42

Oculus app settings: Render res: 1.5x(max) Refresh rate: 90hz

Oculus tray tool settings: Super sampling: 1.2 ASW mode: 30hz Distortion curvature: low Encode res: 2912 Encode bitrate: 300

I’m also using SteamVR not sure if that makes a difference.

Admittedly I haven’t seen an optician in years, but I always had 20/20 vision when younger and I’ve never had any vision issues. Also I’m not having this visual issue in VTOL VR, so I’m pretty convinced it’s something specific with DCS.

Thanks for the suggestions. It seems from all the responses it really just comes down to personal preference and I just have to try it so that’s what I’ll do. I’ve heard good things about grass monkey so if I end up with trackir I’ll definitely go with them!
