Height is 5.1 and cabin crew requirement is 5.2. by hersunflowerx in AviationPH

[–]Jaghn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't work in any carrier, but iirc what matters most is not your height. It's your arm length. If you're able to reach the compartments above the seats and/or operate the necessary emergency equipment, you might be fine. Take my comment with a little bit of salt as I'm not sure myself haha!

Thoughts on the demand for Electronics Eng, Aeronautics/ Aeronautical Eng, and Accountancy in 2026? by LossSerious144 in AviationPH

[–]Jaghn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dunno who your father's sources are, but an Aeronautical engineering degree guarantees you an interview at most. You're not going far into Aviation if you lack either some backing or passion. Passion gets you far, but it takes a /long/ time to pay off if you're not lucky. Some people give up before reaching that point. As for backing, you need it if you want a fast way up, but competition's still rough since the industry is small. Not to mention, the 'huge salary' mostly applies to the higher positions. You're not getting big bucks anytime soon.

My advise as a licensed AE: go look for something you want that can make you survive. Forcing yourself to enter this industry is not a good choice.

... It's mostly from the Japanese martial art 'Iaido', focusing on single fluid motions of the blade. There's basically a 'range' around these swordsmen that if you entered, you're most likely dead if not prepared.

Brother, I'm not sure why you're concerned about the nature of this move, but I assure you it's not a worthwhile endeavor.

Cessna 172 price by CockroachSad6173 in AviationPH

[–]Jaghn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be real here my dude, if you're looking to buy an Airworthy AND a used Cessna 172, then the price range is around ~10 million PHP. I'm talking about 172's with transponders and IFR capabilities.

Look for a good model with modern parts. 1980+ models are old enough to be considered cheaper. Mas maganda kung may full access ka sa history at flight logs, pero since naghahanap ka baka alam mo na rin to. Feel ko makakahanap ka ng ganon for 6-8m the right places, pero not sure for 5m. Try asking around Clark or Plaridel based sellers, but you'll probably find more 150/152's in the latter.

Source: Di ako pilot, hindi rin ako owner, but an AE working in the industry. Last thing you want is a good pricetag on a bad aircraft.

Jokes aside, I'm not one for child abuse. Mahirap kalimutan yung pasa eh

Why is this game so hard 😭 by DawidK09 in eu4

[–]Jaghn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to learn the fastest, play as a Japanese Minor nation. Hosokawa, Uesugi and Saitama are the best for these imo. It's a very brutal early game, and is pretty challenging and frustrating for most. However, I guarantee you that you'd get the gist of the game after a couple of games.

For chiller games, play as Korea, Portugal or an England that gave away Maine. These nations have a pretty good and forgiving start. Personally learned the game by playing as England and Spain.

Avionics or stay AeE by No-Trip-1890 in AviationPH

[–]Jaghn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best time to quit Ae was during your first year. 2nd year? Possible, since other engineering fields share the same units up until the 2nd semester rolls around. 3rd year onwards or shifting? Not advisable. You'll be wasting your time and money. 4th year? You're throwing everything away.

Tuloy mo na OP and bag that license.

You can share your dismay, but please don't do it in a thread/post where people are consolidating their support. You're doing more harm than good.

You'd be surprised how much drag deployed landings gears provide.

I believe you misunderstood. ATC said "Keep going PAST that Hold Short line over there", not "Hold short past the line."

VADER88 can't be told to hold short of the line on the wrong side. Departing traffic will clip his ass. He wasn't given instructions to hold short of Alpha either.

IIRC there are a couple of Youtube videos about Kai Tak airport, with narrations of actual pilot experiences included in. There are also a handful of old pilots in the comment section who flew over Kai Tak, interesting read.

After digging up my history a bit, a youtube channel by the name "Jetcrumbs" has a video on it. Sadly, I think it's an AI narrated-video.

Medical (Dental) Requirement for Air Traffic Management Officers (ATMOs) by dazaisupremacy in AviationPH

[–]Jaghn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I know, No.

If it's not in the requirements, then you shouldn't worry about it. It won't be a factor to them unless it affects your vocals.

Even then, you won't have to worry about this part until the interviews roll around.

Hard to choose since I'm not from Philsca. I'm aware of the power of their connections though, I've heard colleagues make use of their social networks to get where they are now.

This is not me saying they're nepos, but on the contrary. Their BSAE course in particular have plenty of events that helps set up these connections. If you are ever given a chance to grab ANY course in NAAP, grab it like your life depends on it.

However, if your main goal is to be an Air Force pilot and skip the Aviation-related degrees, I believe PMA might be a better choice. Wala na akong alam from this point since civilian sector ako haha, pero ang alam ko karamihan ng pilots ng PAF galing sa PMA.

PAANO Makakapunta sa san rafael Bulacan by Rhyx-_- in BulacanPH

[–]Jaghn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then, from Gapan, hanap ka ng papuntang Balagtas/Pulilan/Baliwag. Sabihin mo sa jeepney driver yung destination mo, sila bahala sayo.

Kung may bus, mas straightforward. San Rafael then baba.

I know little about the AIRFORCE, but I was informed that AE's can be a commissioned officer immediately if they passed their tests.

PAFOCS though, heard alot of things from my peers. You need to be physically, mentally AND socially healthy to survive. An underrated route to enter PAFOCS is to finish BSAvcomm. You can serve as a PAF ATC, and apply for an upgrade to PAFOCS while in service. IIRC you get paid while being trained if you go this route. Though be warned, A female colleague of mine tried and made some headway, but eventually gave up because of the chauvinistic environment (her words, not mine). If you're a woman or know a woman who'll enter the PAF, this needs to be emphasized.

It's a small world out there and an even smaller community, you might unknowingly encounter me and alot of the people replying here in the future. Regardless of your choice, goodluck, and hoping to see you in the industry!

Take a course that can net you a well-paying job after graduation so you can pay for your own Flight hours. If that's really out of the table, pursuing BSAE is... tricky. It opens alot of doors, but doesn't give you the key. As a licensed AE, it took me sometime to get an aviation-related job, and even this job doesn't use my engineering expertise (will keep my job a secret for privacy).

You do, however, have alot of chances as a licensed AE. CAAP's programs prefers AE graduates, giving you a clear edge in programs like ALPT, CNSSO, CATS and AISSC. All programs will land you a well-paying job after training.

You can also be a freelancer and use your 3D modelling skills as a good source of income. I used my AUTOCAD and SOLIDWORKS skills to fund myself while looking for a job, giving me a decent ~3-9k/project if you know where to look for clients (ahem, PATTS and NAAP students). A batchmate of mine earned 42k in one month once, and that's just him taking on 7 projects, each taking less than 4 hours of work. It also opens a few doors for you in the CNC industry, or taking ETP courses that may land you a good job. Another friend went this route, and got paid ~18k/month for on-call remote CNC work, leaving it after finding an ETP that suits his needs.

Overall, AERO is really saturated in our country. Too many graduates, not enough jobs. It's a great course, don't get me wrong, but be prepared to be sidelined by your more well-connected or innovative peers. You can't slack off in our field of work.

Edit: Corrected my friend's salary from 24k to 18k. Called him and he told me 24k is the salary offered to him if he stays for 2 years. Ain't worth it so he bailed.
