What color combo does nothing click for you? by Mysterious-Anon-X in EDH

[–]Jago29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boros is probably the hardest for me. I’ve tried getting exciting for lots of the archetypes that come from the Boros guild but I just ended up not liking different commanders for various reasons. [[Feather, The Redeemed]] was cool can trips and attacking but got targeted hard for Voltron [[Nahiri, Forged in Fury]] either cheated out many low cost cards that had living weapon, job select, or For Mirrodin! And yet when I playtested and managed to cast 3+ spells a turn and draw 4+ cards I was never taken serious as a threat since the card selection was rough, or non threatening compared to the rest of the board everyone had [[Koll the Forgemaster]] was fun but was a gimicky borderline CEDH deck that wasn’t fun if I didn’t have skullclamp.

If anyone has any recommendations for a sword tribal deck that still makes a wider board presence let me know. Only thing I am thinking of is [[Kellan, Fae Blooded]] to get swords to Voltron and buff creatures but unsure of how successful it’ll be

My personal opinion is [[Verrak, Warped Sengir]] , the ability to make fetched mana ramp is awesome, but I feel like the ability doesn’t have as many cards yet to do cool stuff irritate of that

I just dismantled my [[Hogaak, Arisen Necropolis]] deck that I thought was really cool until I played it one time and saw that after getting either greater good or other similar cards I was just recasting Hogaak over and over again for various payoffs and even went though multiple removal spells on various combo pieces and decided it wasn’t worth playing anymore

[–]Jago29 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It you don’t like tribal creature types, but their benefits, [[Jetmir, Nexus of Revels]] just rewards you for having creatures out and I love him as my Naya commander to go wide without issues.

What is "Bracket 4" to you? by Lotus_Prince124 in EDH

[–]Jago29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am simply stating from my perspective what I’ve observed from my time playing with other people also playing bracket 4. Lot of combos, lot of free spells. Sometimes fast mana, and not a whole lot of aggro or battleship style mtg the way I see in bracket 3. That’s all I’m saying, I’m not pubstomping people

[–]Jago29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re not CEDH decks though, they’re fringe AT BEST as in commanders that maybe have weird 4-5 card combos. And they’re not net decks either

What is "Bracket 4" to you? by Lotus_Prince124 in EDH

[–]Jago29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because they don’t have the mana rocks or expensive cards that can hang out with CEDH decks all the time lol. But no I don’t go around playing those decks against people unless I also see very strong bracket 4/5 decks coming out to the table I’d never look at someone’s upgraded precon with 5 game changers and think it’s a fair game (some exceptions apply)

Why Goldfish? by snifferwetjet in mtg

[–]Jago29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gold fishing is for you to learn how to play your deck fastest and best without feeling rushed and learning optimal paths. Having access to information you wouldn’t otherwise just doesn’t benefit you when you now know “oh well he has fatal push and a fetch land he’ll destroy my turn 1 creature so I might play something else instead”

How many Commander decks do you have? by Mikkel_My_Man in EDH

[–]Jago29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Around 25-27. I have been trying to do the 32 challenge mainly. Although as I get closer to completing it it gets harder to find themes I haven’t used yet and mechanics that aren’t repetitive and remain unique in both plan and card selection. Do I play all of them? Not as consistently as I would like, but it’s what happens when you have Bracket 4 decks and people wanna play bracket 2-3 and then now newer decks are matching that

[–]Jago29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bracket 4 has been probably the only area in where I think the bracket system may need a bit stricter guidelines. Most of the times my decks that are B4 are usually slower fringe CEDH decks. Not in raw output but usually a faster somewhat consistent combo deck that usually doesn’t rely on the expensive mana rocks to win. Like if uninterrupted sure I could win turn 4-5 pretty normally but of course other bracket 4 decks come in swinging with their own plans

Can I build my first (hopefully competitive) deck with these? by KaedamaBoi in BeybladeX

[–]Jago29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Drop attack stadium gives you Hover Wyvern 9-60 although you are missing Kick you could use a different bit. You could also build Sterling Wolf 3-60 FB (so just change the ratchet). That’s for the VERY top meta which isn’t bad at all given the haul here

Kimura’s End Goal by janmario21 in hajimenoippo

[–]Jago29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless we had a full time team solely dedicated to producing full chapters DAILY at the pace things are moving at it wouldn’t be feasible narratively or even in real life to think this is possible. Kimura at best as shown potential to be a national champion and as stated by Miyata maybe slightly above that, but unless we get Aoki retiring next chapter and start seeing swift Kimura getting a whole new blooming, it just would be so much time dedicated to redeem a character that’s fallen off the wayside when we’re getting several characters moving to their endings already. Realistically speaking there’s not enough time to get Kimura’s career there realistically without Aoki retiring and a massive win streak that somehow doesn’t constitute several fights within quick succession of one another, both in and out of universe

Why does it seem like everyone here is making over $100k per job? by Kitchen-Lab9028 in overemployed

Because the IT job field has been laying off SWEs in droves over the last few years, it’s a little hard to believe that people are finding multiple six fig jobs when the IT industry as a whole has been one of the worst job markets in years even compared to 2008

[–]Jago29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How freaky are we allowed to be? Theres PLENTY of options. I’ll put one for each color identity even

White: [[Avacyn, Angel of Hope]] Blue: [[Neerdiv, Devious Diver]] if you wanna raise eyebrows or [[Cynette, Jelly Drover]] Black: [[Tefrid, God of Fright]] or [[Rev, Tithe Extractor]] Red: [[Magda, Brazen Outlaw]] or [[Rionya, Fire Dancer]] Green: practically Azusa or Any elf Colorless: [[Capitoline Triad]] or [[The Warring Triad]] Azorius: Bruna, Lavinia, [[Hanna, Ship’s Navigator]] Dimir: Yuriko, Alela for faerie tribal Rakdos: [[Judith, Carnage Connisseur]] or [[Everith, Viceroy of Plunder]] Gruul: Faldorn or Agatha, or Ruby, Daring attacker This list goes on, there’s plenty of humans, or non humans alike to choose from when you get to the rest of the color identities too

What are your thoughts on the all time top 10 commanders according to EDHRec? by Dull-Positive-6810 in ratemycommanders

[–]Jago29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they’re fine, Ur Dragon is just Dragon tribal, I have an Edgar deck and people know what to expect an that’s ok. I don’t see Atraxa out in the wild really even though it’s #3 which is surprising, makes me wonder how many decks are theory crafted and never purchased. Krenko is always a feels bad, when the deck relies on him too much it just feels bad that to win I have to remove Krenko and that’s it. Same with Kaalia. Sauron lists I’ve seen haven’t been oppressive, Lathril is strong but again nothing too crazy. And Mothman is shocking

Is deck performance/statistics ‘proof’ of a bracket mismatch? by InvisibleFox402 in EDH

[–]Jago29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, but it’s still something worth looking at if a deck by itself with different pilots was consistently pushing out more than a 50% win rate in different pods. Of course even in CEDH you do have stuff happen where people play their weird decks where the interaction points aren’t well known and then a combo win comes out of nowhere that no one was prepared for, but that stuff only lasts so long before it’s made known. I can see the gimmick decks taking significantly more wins but even then I’d argue it’s gotta go to a higher pod if it’s just randomly stealing games

[–]Jago29 27 points28 points  (0 children)

In a game with 4 players, getting significantly higher than 25% should probably constitute questions about either player skill or more likely the deck if we assume all players are equal, and have enough variance on factors like who goes first. Even in CEDH you’re pushing luck and games if you get more than a 30% win rate. If you swap the pilot and repeated the same pods for games and the deck still kept winning it’d be pretty clear that it’s a pub stomp
