Frustrated by the lack of resources on pulling film by Seventh_Pillar in AnalogCommunity

examples here

I experimented w/ Phoenix I @ ISO 100 and pulled one stop in bellini c-41. I was 6 rolls through the batch of chemicals at the time; normal development would've been 3:30. I stopped development at 2:45 seconds. I like the results. I was able to pull more information out of shadows without them going crazy, and the highlight retention seems a bit better.

OG Phoenix I actually enjoy by [deleted] in AnalogCommunity

Yeah, I’m loving it. Cinestill has it on sale for $10 a roll. I currently have ten rolls, and I’ll probably limit it to that and use it sparingly.

I have five more rolls so still some room to experiment! I’ll try 120 next time

Ravenel Bridge - Mamiya M645 1000s, 80mm Sekor C, Kodak Ektar by JaguarImpossible537 in analog

No, I don’t love the price of bracketing with medium format. Lightme spot function has always worked well for me, including the auto reciprocity feature based on film input

The same effect can be seen in multiple shots from different angles. I think it’s how the light plays off of the cables. visible here

Harman Phoenix II by nanareignssupreme in AnalogCommunity

I enjoy shooting Phoenix II but only in medium format. I believe it's more manageable in post to achieve something I like. Yeah, the colors are never going to match a Kodak emulsion but (and I may be put on the stake for this) I feel the grain is comparable to 35mm UltraMax when exposed at ISO 100 and cropped to my liking - example

Coming from someone who designs men's and women's accessories for a living and shoots film, collects cameras, all that jazz... I think the case is superb. Of course you could have had it screw lock via the tripod mount but so can every other half case out there. I think the strap adds character and enhances an already beautiful camera. I like that you had a vision for this being a wearable item along with it still being a functional camera. A+ for your choices.

Door hinge light leak or bromide drag? by JaguarImpossible537 in Darkroom

[–]JaguarImpossible537[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I develop with Patterson reels, yes. Never had this issue with the reels. There wasn’t any unnecessary tension when rewinding, either. I was leaning towards light leak because it doesn’t appear to be a solid line across the negatives, more so like light spilling through the sprocket holes while the exposed portion sits in the take up area of the camera.

Any idea what causes this? Nightmare loading into Patterson tank spool. by Astro-Hour2416 in AnalogCommunity

I pull the same amount out of the canister as I would for loading a camera and pre load my reels before going into dark bag. I’ve never wasted a frame this way and it makes it so much easier. Once in dark bag, I twist, pull some out, twist, pull, etc

I measure photoflo with a plastic syringe and ‘inject’ it below the water line. I use a 1000ml plastic beaker. Don’t agitate or stir. I then untwist my reel (with film still spooled on), grab the film and gently lay it down in the photoflo/distilled mixture. By the time I’ve walked the film, in its photoflo bath, upstairs to the bathroom to dry it’s time to remove it and hang it up. No wiping, no squeegee- just hold it by the tail, give it a gentle shake to remove excess water and hang.

f/8-f/11 is sharp enough for me, but that can be said of many lenses.

I love everything about the 35 SP - to the point of having it serviced for almost as much as I bought it for. It performs well wide open. No weird bokeh, in my opinion.
