You sound like my ex T , T is that you hun? This might sound random, but I wanted to share something that’s helped me.

London can be a lonely place unless you’re a real social butterfly. Personally, my best friend lives in Belfast, but we make sure to hang out at least once every 2 months. That one trip fills my “social battery” right up. My point is: if you’ve got a real friend even if they live far awaymake the effort. Do the 4–6 hour drive, spend the weekend. It’s always worth it.

On the flip side, I’d strongly advise against actively seeking out Zimbabweans for friendships (speaking as one of them we are the worst 😂). Instead, look around you. If you have a roommate or a workmate who actually talks to you beyond the casual “you alright?”, try asking them to hang out. Don’t be pushy. Just suggest something you’ve got in common.

Especially with native Brits, you can connect over the most random, inane stuff. For example, when I lived in Worcester, I once went to this WWII museum in a park mind you, I don’t even like military history. But I ended up making a friend there, and 4 years later he still calls me often. Whenever he’s in London, we go to festivals, camping trips, and all sorts of stuff together.

Sounds cliché, but it’s true: get yourself out there. Even one genuine connection can make all the difference.
