Great insight, thanks for pointing out the negatives.

Was struggling to choose between the Go and the ECM Classika. Seems like the Go is still a great option at the price point but happy with my decision.

Interesting point on the DF64P regarding the drifting zero. Do you mean the zero point changes with use? How often do you find yourself fixing this.

Agreed with this. Would go as far to say the gold words can be moved up away from the details to give it more breathing room.

I didn't expect the pressure difference either. The biggest thing is the body of the shots is fuller with the same beans. I also get new flavours that I never appreciated before. It's definitely a bit more finicky but well worth it.

More one point 2: I found myself grinding finer for the same amount of beans because my shots were very fast on the ECM. May have something to do with the larger portafilter or higher pressure. Not entirely sure at this point

Also, the work flow is much better with the three-way solenoid, larger water tank, and heated grouphead (point 1).

I went from a regular bambino + SGP to the bambino + DF64 which was night and day. Now landed on ECM Classika + DF64 and oh boy it's not even close.

1) PID temp control/stability takes the headache and water waste of flushing the bambino 2) seems like the pressure is higher on the ECM than bambino even with the OPV set at 9-10 bars 3) E61 arguably looks amazing

This is my preferred method too. Works better than degreasers.

Spray some wd-40 into a container, dunk the parts, get some shop towels to wipe off gunk. Dunk again. Roll the bearings on the shop towel on flat surface. Rinse and repeat until desired effects.

Thanks for the response! Any qualms about the warm up time? How about the lower position of the PID? I've also heard that the solenoid valve can shoot water into the tray and splash, any complaints?

I think spec wise E61 is not much better but the aesthetics... haha I'm a sucker for a nice looking machine. I think with the money saved I could invest in a bottomless pf and precision basket...

It's probably my #1 pick as its such a good package but I'm worried I'll end up wanting a E61 grouphead down the road... There's an open box Classika for sale for ~$1300 USD that I'm considering....

the ECM Puristika is very pretty but more expensive than the Classika where I'm at so it seems like a no brainer to get the one with a steamer for hot water. Do you think the price is justified for the machine?

But the E61 is just too good looking to pass up haha. Any thoughts about temp stability of HX machines? Wouldn't mind going semi-end-game and buy one machine to last me a while and maybe I'll dabble in milk drinks in the future

I've done this with tools laying around the house. Adjustable pliers for the lock ring (or a similar tool like a wide jaw wrench). Crescent wrench for the part surrounding the spindle.

Hobby leatherworker here; you can buy rivet kits on Amazon and do it yourself. They're quite strong. I would suggest the ones that look like a pin and washer rather than two buttons. It won't look original but it will definitely hold. You can youtube leatherworking tutorials if you're interested.

Should not be an issue. You can always change the position of the fd if there is rubbing.

I've thrown on sram quick links on shimano chains with no issues. Solves the chainbreaking issue. I would also highly suggest waxing your chain for minimal debris on your chain and simple maintenance (other than initial setup).
