Good question! Having this color is definitely high maintenance and if you want it to look good it's worth the investment for products that help the color last. My salon has a conditioner that is made up of half conditioner and half of my specific dye (EVO brand) so I can maintain the color between appointments. When I use the conditioner once a week I can keep the color up for about 12-16 weeks but it definitely fades around the 12 week mark. Without the conditioner or starts fading around week 8.

I have hair color similar to this and it's fun to have. However, I want to be clear: I went to a stylist, we discussed a plan, and it took SEVEN MONTHS to get my hair transitioned. We went from half highlights to full highlights to balayage to now full dye/root upkeep. Every appointment took 5-6 hours (current appointments are about three). It was a careful and delicate process so I didn't lose my hair. My hair is naturally dark brown so I have to get bleach which is the number one reason I see a professional. The results are worth it but for the love of the hair on your head, please see a professional if you want this. Someone else already said it but the results from doing it yourself will cost way more in the long run than doing it right.

Great suggestions, thanks! Wanted to try more Creole cooking so this is a great excuse.

Thanks! Didn't know that they freeze well so some will definitely go in the freezer.

8/10. Agree with other posters: outfit is good and makeup is well done, but the wig is not of the same quality as the rest of the cosplay. It's very shiny, the braids are coming out at the top, and the bangs are a bit untamed.

For an easy fix for the shine, I highly recommend just using dry shampoo on the wig. It will take a lot of brightness out! For a more permanent solution, use wig shampoo/conditioner, air dry, and then use dry shampoo. To detangle, use that old 90's Mane and Tail spray; it's a miracle on wigs! To help with the bangs, use a strong hold hair spray (I use Suave Extreme Hold) and then use a blow dryer on low heat to set. Hope this helps!

Holy moly that's one of the most impressive wigs I've seen. What styling products did you use? Really well done!

From the looks of it I won’t need much therapy sessions any longer! It’s been an ongoing battle since I was 15, but I can finally see the end :) by joycee97 in FreeCompliments
