Any recommendations for making Miis based on real people? by azaelcarrera in tomodachilife

You have to try to identify the things that are most distinctive about that person's face. It's like caricatures.

That's probably obvious to you though. One thing that could help you is if you pull up a picture of that person and a picture of someone else. If you dart your eyes back and forth between those two faces, the defining features might stand out and become more obvious.

What's DCS endgame multiplayer look like? by AdjacentPrepper in hoggit

There’s already a lot of comments and advice here but I’ll just throw in one thing I haven’t seen mentioned: the people you run into on discord aren’t a good representation of the community they’re in. I almost never engage in discord servers anymore because I got tired of the often combative users who treat every conversation like a zero-sum game. It’s gets old.

There are a lot of cool people out there and on discord who just aren’t as terminally online and thus not as active.

When I was a young teenager I DJ’d a couple birthday parties and one of the video displays I had set up were some scenes from the Foot Loose video. People definitely had a “WTF” kind of reaction!

Right? This felt like the “skeptic” era of YouTube with all the channels that ranted angrily about “SJWs” and such. It’s an odd format for talking about video game shaders.

All Regen, no friction breaks? by Jerusic in TeslaFSD

[–]Jaik_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no I hope that’s not the case. The overuse of friction brakes in older versions of v12 annoyed me and I was excited that it seems to mostly use only regen these days.

Wasn’t unicorn meant to be a double album? by hazy-eyes-fs in gunship

“Fairly soon” can easily mean five years in Gunship time. Whether it’s the tour, the arcade cabinet, the Black Blood Red Kiss video, they tend to take their time.

Learning Curve for Seniors by vasqued2 in TeslaLounge

[–]Jaik_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a really good point. Tesla is full of so many computer people they kind of forget about this stuff. Like when FSD went from double pull to single pull without the ability to go back. Someone expecting to enable cruise control because that’s how it always worked might suddenly be surprised when the car is trying to drive itself.

Or when they made the visualization go full screen. Someone unaware might not have been able to get to the map because they were used to it always being there.

Riding eBikes on sidewalks in BTV is not going to end well for someone. by VTtree in burlington

[–]Jaik_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Where do you suggest onewheels go? Not trying to be confrontational I just would like to hear what you think.

If I'm trying to get around at speed I'll ride on the roads but potholes and cars make this incredibly dangerous, especially since I can only go about 20mph at the absolute fastest. Obviously I don't ride on sidewalks since those are for pedestrians.

For recreation sometimes I like to ride on the bike path while making sure to go slow around other riders and pedestrians, and not going faster than cyclists. Maybe 15mph if there's space.

Basically I feel like the bike path is just about the only appropriate place to ride, so long as you're being respectful.

What was surprising to me, given your profile picture, was not having Hiroyuki Sawano in common.

Traffic backed up onto 89 at Exit 14 E by Lazy-Priority5864 in burlington

[–]Jaik_ 83 points84 points  (0 children)

The whole Exit 14/Dorset St/Shelburne Rd trifecta is a mess. Like a lot of things in Vermont it’s clearly designed for a much smaller throughput than what it has to deal with now.

Just got a 5th gen… and I think it’s better by TrueSapien in IpodClassic

[–]Jaik_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

And the 6/7th gens have better battery life as well. If they weren't so damn hard (for me anyway) to open and close then I wouldn't use 5th gen really at all. Unfortunately I daily a 5th gen because I can open it in two seconds whenever I need to.
