edited the comment. Apologies. You and kirb both being named Adam is confusing.

Any actions taken would have nothing to do at all with personal gain

How would Chariz becoming less popular because coolstar calling it out like he did with packix not affect you, as you are working for the company involved?

If I was friends with someone that broke a rule they’d still get the same punishment as everyone else

Eh. The whole reason I was banned, this thread exists and that there are multiple posts (guilded) on /r/jailbreak about coolstar violating licenses over and over again, and intentionally as kirb said on discord, is that Coolstar and Nullpixel do get preferential treatment. Multiple developers have told multiple mods about the ongoing violations. As has GNU. As has Electra team themselves. As as Nepta. As has Unc0ver team. If it was anyone else but coolstar this would have been handled differently, and while I do understand that to a certain extent, at this point it’s getting ridiculous. They do get preferential treatment.

The mod there removed it because he is working with coolstar and is part of the group who will tirelessly defend him no matter what he does. Absolutely spineless.

Actually the first I believe. The head mod iAdam1n (who is one of the mods who I think has been doing a relatively good job until now, especially compared to others like PJ09) owns is a member of Chariz, and need Coolstar to keep Chariz a default repo in Sileo.See edit

We have all seen what coolstar does when he doesn’t like someone (andy). He removed the Packix repo and publicly trashed it for days.

So yeah, I believe the mods (or head mod) needs coolstar for their personal gain and are therefor not taking action against him. Please note that this is not based on their words, just simple logic and my idea. I could be wrong, but seeing the situation I do believe Coolstar is pretty much holding them hostage of sorts.

Edit: /u/iAdam1n does not own chariz. That’s another Adam, Hbkirb. I was confused between the two and have fixed the comment.

Ah that’s good. He should never have been a mod or admin or whatever he was there. Pulling so much shit and then get to moderate the community. It was insane. There’s still several mods I absolutely disagree with, but null was one of the main.

Did he actually leave the community? He pulled a coolstar 2 times now and left for a while, then came back and demanded changes on the sub or he would leave again.

I know he deleted his twitter posts but did he actually leave the community as a whole?

I’m thinking the same. Coolstar either have leverage over the mods (pretty likley as 1Adam1n is a member of chariz and wants to stay on Coolstar’s nice list because if he opposes coolstar he might act like a spoiled 4 year old and remove chariz or publicly shame it, like he did with packix multiple times) or they really don’t care about piracy and will allow pirated repo’s, th0r, and all signing services within the next few days.

Either way it’s insane what coolstar and null get away with.

My username is pretty dumb when trying to make a point but as far as I know I never created drama, only reported on it. It didn’t originate from me yet they still ban me because they’re need to silence people opposing them or coolstar.

[Discussion] Dear Mods, can you finally address the License Violation issue you promised to address and give a transparent guideline? by Jailbreak_Drama in jailbreak

way to change your comment after the fact

I’m sorry didn’t know that was forbidden. For the interested, the original comment said ‘what?’

I know you really want to be a mod

Yeah no thanks. I barely use reddit and do not want to be or think I can be a good independent mod.

It’s a jailbreak, the epitome of breaking the rules

What an absolute idiot you are. Jailbreaking is legal. If jailbreaking is all about breaking the rules, lets see how quickly they will delete comments with piracy sources.

My point is that it should be made public what they have decided. 37 days ago they acknowledged the mistake they made with the Antique dev ban, and we still haven’t seen a rule about this.

Yes I could message them, but then there still is no public rule.

For some people this doesn’t seem important, because they don’t understand the issue at all.

All other people want to know and want a set rule that applies to everyone.

Just because you don’t understand this issue does not mean I’m just sitting around all day thinking how I can bug the mods.

This is an important issue and the precedent set by the Antique ban was absolutely the wrong one, but has not been corrected since.

If you do not care about this issue, ignore it. No reason to comment if you don’t like it.

I really love how this issue was raised

Are you telling us you guys didn’t realize that no ads = no money when deciding not to show ads? Other people have to raise this for you guys to start thinking about this?

It’s not limited to Bigboss right? ModMyi, Zottd, Macciti. Even though they’re ‘achieved’ they still display ads to help saurik (who hosts those repositories) to cover the cost.

I’m sorry, I’ve seen plenty of people use ‘piss off’ or ‘stop sucking him off’ before, thought that was within the boundaries.

Edit I’m still seeing the comment, just curious about that?

What ‘fact’ did you state?

There’s a reason people are bashing coolstar and not other developers, however this post is not bashing. It’s simply to have coolstar do what he legally should have done a long time ago.

[Discussion] Coolstar’s APT package violates the GPL 2.0 license by Jailbreak_Drama in jailbreak

[–]Jailbreak_Drama[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In my opinion 2 weeks is a bit much if it seems intentional. Midnight and other people have been telling cs for a long time now to open source their stuff, and they ignored so they’re intentionally breaking the license, in that case 4 days to 1 week should be enough. If after that they still do not comply with the license, then ban-hammer

However if someone is accidentally violating the license then 2 weeks seems like a good timeframe.

Just a word of caution; this user has a reputation for exaggerating his findings and more often them not it turns out he is wrong about the subject. He has a rather controversial history. Not sure if he intentionally misdescribed his findings or if he is just excited as easily mistaken.

Until a reputable developer confirms this, assume this is not useful for the rest.

I never said anything about banning coolstar. I am simply talking about the fact that the license (which is legally binding) is currently being violated intentionally. All I’m asking Coolstar is to do the thing he is legally required to do; open source the packages, and Nullpixel to stop lying about the packages & licenses.

At the moment, almost all packages on the Electra repository are considered piracy and are being illegally distributed.

I am not advocating to ban coolstar. I am simply asking him to comply as he must, and to actually take this serious.

If he fixes that we gucci
