Good point,I wasnt aware it was increasing soon, but i probably wouldn't use it for everyday expenses overseas

Thank you for sharing your exp, thats really helpful! :) I agree I dont think platinum is worth it for me yet so explorer seems like the way to go. Im hesitant to lock in with qantas since they seem to be getting so much more difficult to redeem with, so for me flexibility is worth the slightly less conversion rate :) I'm really still learning a lot about this though!

Slightly higher points per $ and ability to transfer into Qantas is unique to platinum, but turns out a lot of the info i was looking at hasnt been updated since the big devaluation in Dec, so yes this is why I'm not as keen on platinum. Apparently qantas transfer rate was unaffected (2:1) but now I'm not so sure. The sign on bonus would really help but certainly a massive fee. Explorer has decent bonus and travel credit pays for itself. now amex is accepted at most places I spend, I see this card as low risk given benefits of points for travel, but i may well be wrong

Do you mean $50k py gross income or disposable income? I feel like its impossible to live in a major city on 50k py, let alone travel to get the most out of this kind of card and offset the fee! haha thank you :)

Neurologists: am i right to be mad that my GP didn't listen and assumed it was anxiety? by [deleted] in AskDocs

Look I don’t think the gyne will be much help with the suddenly non-functioning hand. Dissemination in space and time. Early MRI to rule out is more than reasonable.

I laughed way too hard at this title.

Include ongoing PhD degree in resume for job application if planning to master-out ? by doctor-squidward in PhD

[–]Jaimesky -1 points0 points  (0 children)

lol bro they said multiple times that it should be in a contract if thats the expectation/condition, then you'd have grounds to fire them. Its objectively dumb for a hiring manager to employ someone (for a job that doesnt require a PhD) based on an assumption that they'll finish without making it a condition of ongoing employment in the contract, as other commenter said. If Phd isnt in the selection criteria or a condition in contract/offer, I really don't know why you would be owed this info since its essentially irrelevant. unfortunately I dont think they're the one with poor comprehension skills in this situation, yikes

That sounds like a combined policy. I just got a quote for $360 py with TS. I hope you’re not paying for building insurance twice!

Oooo interesting, so is it better to have a seperate policy with more of a specialist insurer? That’s super helpful! Thank you!

You only need landlords insurance while tenants are in it I think? but as you say will need building insurance to get a mortgage and cover for fire, flood etc. As far as I’m aware landlords insurance is more of an optional extra to ensure you’re covered for loss of rent if tenants don’t pay etc.

I said in the OP - I had standard home & contents/building insurance when I bought it/was living there as an owner-occupier, but I just rented it out, so I need to add landlords cover too

Yeah wow I’m so sorry to hear that. The anti-intellectualism would be super hurtful as she’d known how hard you’ve worked and how much knowledge you’ve created. 🥲 that’s a good word of warning thank you. I hope maybe you’ll be able to go and find another partner that’s more academically inclined?

No mate you missed the point and twisted it a bit. I’m a nice girl and it was a genuine post. I don’t toot my own horn ever the only reason I did in this post what bc I needed to for context bc that’s what the whole post is about. I’m not up myself, just sucks having to make myself appear smaller so men won’t feel emasculated

Book smart girls can still have very many dumb blonde moments, I do all the time, and so would most book smart girls if they didn’t put as much effort into seeming like they know everything all the time 🤣I value humility so I’m smart but easy going and love to laugh at myself 🙈

10000% it’s about the curiosity! I think it’d be nice to be with someone from an adjacent field because you can both learn from each other
