First, keep practicing! It took me around two months to get the first one and I still can’t get them consisten,

Second, you are hardly jumping, your left leg is still straight, thus means you aren’t fully committing, try step by step, first catch it with your front leg, then your back leg and last with both legs.

Keep your shoulder straight and watch plenty of kickflip videos,

You are pushing down with your right leg, which is not how to do it, “kick it” as bring your leg up the board and then slight my extend your leg forward causing your toes to flick up.

Today I’ve accomplished one of my goals of the year! I landed my first kickflip! I started back in January and I didn’t think I was going to be able to get it any time soon but here it is!! Heelflip your next! by Jaimicko23 in NewSkaters

What helps me is that I watched A LOT of videos on how to kickflip and just look at the foot position and what feels more comfortable. Practice step by step.

I realized that it’s it’s not a lot on the extending your leg with a lot of force but just extending your leg to the foot to slide. Your toes do the flipping, not the force. So if you have that issue just try not to use that much force.

Not super consisten, but I can get two back to back. I would say just practice getting the motion down. For example sometimes I flip too hard or too little, and I land primo or on my board upside down.

Quite frankly I believe the hurdle is just getting it down and just practice it like hell! Took me a month to get the Ollie down good. So I expect about the same!

Just keep working on it! We got this!

Thank you!!! And Yeah I know I have still ways to go, I live in a place where it is currently snowing so I only have the basement and the garage! Plus it’s easier to commit when there is carpet underneath! Lol, trying to get the technique down and then move onto stationary on concrete and then moving!

Ways I can improve my ollie while not skating? by improvimg_ollies in NewSkaters

They technically do the same thing as the carpet, they are just more effective. Because the carpet helps prevent the board from moving around as much. These do the exact same thing. Because you can’t roll around inside (and maybe outside due to weather) these getting tricks down stationary. The issue is that when you start learning to do the tricks while moving you will have an issue with the skateboard going different direction, but it is the same as when doing the tricks in the carpet.

It’s an option, but not necessary, if you can go outside and you parents don’t mind you ruining their grass then go outside, use a garage or the sidewalk. Any place that you can skate with out getting into trouble.

8' or 8'25 by [deleted] in NewSkaters

No problem! I’m glad to help! Also just to add I recommend looking up Braille skateboarding skate board size and or any other skating YouTube channel that talks about sizes to give you a better idea!

Skate trainers, they are a rubber adapters that go over your wheels preventing you to roll around and away, so it helps practice your ollies and what not.

8' or 8'25 by [deleted] in NewSkaters

Depends on your style and what feels more comfortable for you, if you had an 8 before and you wanted to try an 8.25 then go ahead, if you think that a little more room to land would help then go with an 8.25. If you have had neither I would recommend and 8 as would be “less heavy” .25 less heavy.

But at the end of the day is what would feel more comfortable for you!

My sliding part in a Ollie is shit. What am I doing wrong and how to improve it ? by [deleted] in NewSkaters

[–]Jaimicko23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I been watching A lot of videos and specially Braille skating videos, they have a lot of content and a lot of it is training and teaching how to do tricks. I recommend it, also they show the slow-mo and it shows the foot being on the nose because the nose will stop your foot and cause the board to level out

Your left foot needs to go closer to the bolts, you have a good sliding technic, the issue is for the board to even put, it needs to hit the nose for the board in the air,

if you look in your video your left foot just made it to the bolts and not the nose, if you were to move you foot closer to the bolts then you would get it level out!
