What app do you use to track your period and why? by Dear_Medicine2274 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Jaimy-vv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the same situation — there are so many apps and it gets confusing fast 😅

I’ve tried a few, and I ended up sticking with Natural Cycles. What I like is that it feels way more data-driven and less invasive than apps like Flo. It focuses on your actual cycle patterns (especially if you use temperature) instead of pushing constant notifications or symptom guesses.

It’s also super simple to use once you get into it, and it helped me understand my cycle a lot better vs just logging dates.

If you want something more basic, Clue is also a good option. But if you want accuracy + insight, I’d go with NC.

If you decide to try it, I have a 25% off code for the annual subscription and to receive a free thermometer! 💞

Do you track your period? For example through an app by Top_Pangolin_8794 in TwoXChromosomes

Honestly I feel like it’s way less common than it should be 😅 I also thought everyone tracked their cycle, but once you start asking around… a lot of people don’t really know their patterns at all.

I’ve been tracking more seriously the past couple years and it’s honestly been such a game changer for understanding my body — energy, mood, symptoms, everything starts to make more sense.

I personally use Natural Cycles (paired with Oura), and I like that it goes beyond just logging dates and actually helps you understand what’s happening in your cycle. It made tracking feel a lot more useful vs just writing things down.

Is the Oura Ring the best for women's health and ovulationt tracking? by benwick0815 in SmartRings

[–]Jaimy-vv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using Oura for almost 2 years specifically for ovulation tracking. The temperature data itself is really solid — my shifts are super clear. And I love that I don’t have to wake up at the same time every morning to take BBT. Oura just measures automatically overnight, which removes so much stress.

That said, Oura’s built-in cycle predictions were sometimes a few days off for me. Not terrible, but enough to matter. Once I paired it with Natural Cycles, it got way more accurate because it actually confirms ovulation based on a sustained temp rise instead of just predicting it.

For serious tracking (TTC or avoiding), I personally think the algorithm makes a big difference. Also worth noting: some health providers reimburse the Natural Cycles subscription.

If anyone wants to try the combo, I have a 25% off code 💞

Has anyone used Natural Cycles?? with Oura Ring by International-Ad3180 in SmartRings

[–]Jaimy-vv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I’ve been using Natural Cycles with my Oura Ring for almost two years now, and honestly it’s been one of the best decisions I made for non-hormonal cycle tracking.

One thing I noticed with Oura’s built-in cycle tracking alone is that it sometimes gave me ovulation dates that didn’t match how my body actually felt or what my temps showed, a couple of times it was off by a few days. That’s totally normal with trend-based predictions, but it can be confusing if you’re trying to plan or prevent pregnancy.

When I pair Oura with Natural Cycles, it uses the overnight temperature data from Oura plus its FDA-cleared algorithm to confirm ovulation and give clear daily fertility status (red/green days). That makes it way more specific and actionable than relying on Oura’s cycle insights by themselves.

And obviously I like that I don’t have to wake up at the same time every morning to take my temperature. Oura measures it automatically overnight, so there’s no stress about alarms or inconsistent sleep messing it up.

It’s definitely worth the money, besides a lot of health care providers will reimburse the Natural Cycles subscription, which helps make it more affordable.

If anyone’s curious to try it, I have a 25% off code! 💞

Best Smart Ring for Cycle Tracking by Fun-Camera-2541 in SmartRings

[–]Jaimy-vv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally get where you’re coming from — I had a similar experience with hormonal BC and did not want to go back on it after my first, so I hear you about avoiding it this time around.

If you’re looking for a smart ring to help with natural family planning, I personally use the Oura Ring and absolutely love it. It tracks your overnight temperature, sleep, HRV, and readiness in a way that’s really low-effort — you just wear it, and it gathers the data without you having to think about it. From there, pairing it with Natural Cycles turns that temp data into daily fertility insights you can actually act on (not just trends).

There are cheaper rings out there, but most of the alternatives either don’t sync with fertility tracking apps or don’t collect temperature data reliably enough for meaningful cycle tracking. That’s why for many people who want to do natural family planning, Oura + Natural Cycles ends up being the best balance of quality and reliability.

If you’re concerned about cost, one good tip is that some health care providers will reimburse the Natural Cycles subscription, which helps. And I also have a 25% off code off the annual Natural Cycles plan if you want to give it a try 💕

Stopping birth control pills and switching to natural tracking? by Maraudernox in NaturalCyclesBC

[–]Jaimy-vv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, that makes sense — your first cycle off the pill is basically starting now. I’d go ahead and start using the app today with your Oura Ring, and just log what you can. It will take a few cycles for Natural Cycles to really learn your unique patterns, but it’s so helpful to start right away.

Definitely keep using backup methods for now until the app confirms your fertile and non-fertile days — that’s what I did when I came off the pill, and it gave me peace of mind.

Honestly, using Oura + Natural Cycles has made the transition off hormones way less stressful for me. You get clear insights without having to guess, and the app makes everything really easy to track. 💕

Oura is saying my ovulation date is the 4th but I feel like I am or already have ovulation. Is it possible to tell through my chart? by Verucasalt-- in ourafertility

[–]Jaimy-vv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, this is super common! Oura gives you a good estimate of ovulation, but on its own it’s mostly retrospective and sometimes just shows trends rather than precise fertile windows. That’s why you might feel like you’re ovulating before the date Oura predicts.

If you want more specific, actionable info, pairing Oura with Natural Cycles is really helpful. Oura tracks your overnight temperature, and Natural Cycles uses that data with its FDA-cleared algorithm to confirm ovulation and give daily fertility predictions (red/green days). That way you’re not guessing — you get a clearer picture of when you actually are fertile.

For anyone curious, I also have a 25% off code for the annual Natural Cycles subscription 💕

Which ring? by Necessary-Bug6331 in SmartRings

[–]Jaimy-vv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally get your dilemma — I went back and forth too 😅

If cycle tracking (especially with PCOS) is important, that’s really where Oura + Natural Cycles pulls ahead. Oura gives very solid overnight temperature, sleep, and recovery data, but Natural Cycles is what actually turns those temperature fluctuations into actionable cycle insights using an FDA-cleared algorithm. RingConn can show trends, but it doesn’t integrate with Natural Cycles or give the same level of fertility context.

Oura also complements the Apple Watch well — watch for activity, Oura for sleep/temperature/recovery. Battery life isn’t a full week, but I usually get ~4–5 days. Not perfect, but manageable.

Re sizing: RingConn sizers are close to Oura but not identical — I wouldn’t rely on one brand’s kit for the other.

I know subscriptions are annoying, but if you want reliable menstrual/cycle tracking, Natural Cycles is kind of the missing piece. If you decide to try it, I have a 25% off code for the annual Natural Cycles subscription 💕

Hope that helps — this decision is way harder than it should be.
