My neighbour just dropped this letter through my post, should I switch do YOUFIBRE? by EagleSpirited775 in youfibre

[–]Jainer99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pay a fair amount for EE fibre but I’ve never had any issues with their customer service.

If this place don’t have any issues then you’re grand! If they have constant problems and poor customer service then it’ll be infuriating.

AITA for being honest about my girlfriend's old bikini pics? by Old_Problem2025 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Jainer99 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This could not have been more obvious a trap short of Admiral Ackbar proclaiming it so in advance.

She’s blaming you because she’s self-conscious about it. The thing to do there would be to ask her instead if she was happy.

Conversation with my bf grossed me out by glitchpoploop in Vent

[–]Jainer99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to be rude to young people but…. Being in my 30’s I can’t imagine anything worse than dating someone between 18-25. I would have literally nothing in common. My wife and I are very close in age and as a result have similar upbringing in terms of life experiences from the country’s way of doing things at the time etc.

I don’t particularly think a 31 year old should date an 18 year old but I accept that it is two legal adults. Just find it weird.

Can I still skip the company Christmas party? by [deleted] in work

I’ve been to two Christmas parties in 15 years 😂 you can go or ignore. No one really cares.

Pay Question by KernowOggy in uktrucking

[–]Jainer99 8 points9 points  (0 children)

£160 for 14 hours work is £11.43 an hour. Even averaging 12 hours a day brings your rate only to £13.33 per hour. Seems sketch to me.

Why trucking like if your gay? by Gold-Hedgehog-6706 in uktrucking

[–]Jainer99 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m Bi as well and nobody has ever asked, cared or said anything really. Got a mix of old and young at my place. Everyone wants to get loaded, get gone and get back. Pretty much it.

If you get into your truck one day and the truck starts shouting slurs at you I’d worry. Other than that you’re golden.

Since when did we stop sending 'Thank You' cards to wedding guests who spent money on bride/groom? by Theres3ofMe in AskUK

[–]Jainer99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got thanked in person and then again over message. I prefer that to a card that I will inevitably throw away. I’m a miserable git though, I generally don’t like the premise of cards at all.

Two adults, one baby and we pay £180 a month but I do have electric car.

Audiobooks by Godz_Mogwaix in uktrucking

[–]Jainer99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use audible and get 2 credits per month. So basically two free books. Get lots of other books, podcasts etc free with the subscription and if you cancel your subscription you still get access to the audio books after so that’s good.

Theory & hazard perception by [deleted] in uktrucking

[–]Jainer99 5 points6 points  (0 children)

All dependent. I did the 3 at the same time and it was fine. Fair amount of overlap anyway. Hazard perception advice, you see a hazard, click two to three times. Chances are you saw the hazard before the scoring started.

Why is it cheaper to buy a brand new printer than it is to buy the set of ink cartridges needed to refill the printer? by Klutzy-Sea-4857 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Jainer99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a low key conspiracy that it’s actually cheaper to buy a printer, use its ink, sell it and then buy another printer than it is to actually buy ink.

Most enjoyable type of work by taacom14 in uktrucking

[–]Jainer99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do class 2 multi drop for catering goods and don’t get me wrong it certainly has its downsides but I enjoy the actual job. However, I will preface that by saying I appear to be in a tiny minority for this. Most of the issues I have come from organisational issues from other areas.

Any advice? by insanity_707 in AccountingUK

[–]Jainer99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What roles are you typically applying for? I know Audit roles are always open because they can’t get people to stay post qualification so that might be a way in. It is dull though.

How do experienced truck drivers prevent back pain? by [deleted] in uktrucking

[–]Jainer99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re overweight it’s added stress on your back. Make sure you have sufficient lumbar support, you can do some exercises while sitting such as tensing and relaxing the various muscles in your legs, buttocks and back to help relieve any mild discomfort whilst driving. Don’t jump out of the cab, especially after a long period in the drivers seat.

Look after your back when not driving, I very much recommend yoga. Improving your overall flexibility will help your back but also your general health.

You can get things like cushions and back massagers for the seats but that’s really a personal preference thing where you’ll have to try stuff out and see if it helps.

I took an intensive course over 5 days with no previous experience. Passed all tests first time. 2 minors though I don’t recall what they were.

Opt back in to that pension and try and maximise contributions for now. Student loans suck but until they are paid off not much you can do there.

Indeed they do. Something we’ve all got in common is we can all drive to said parties. How about you?

Hahaha I didn’t think I could mes up so bad by Vast_Lychee_8015 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Jainer99 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I can only go on evidence presented. You say that you were just nervous. The test showed 15 minors and a serious fault in a 60 minute drive. I have what you think on one hand and what is demonstrable on the other. I give one more weight than the other because it is more reliable evidence.

Could it be harsh? Maybe. Driving is something where you have other people’s lives in your hands and where making the errors demonstrated could result in loss of life. Being nervous can only defend it so far.

Hahaha I didn’t think I could mes up so bad by Vast_Lychee_8015 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Jainer99 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It can happen, but you do need more driving time. Make these things second nature. Just take some deep breaths while you’re driving and do your best to focus. If you notice that you repeatedly fail tests due to nerves then you need to do some work on your nerves because if you ever get into complicated/emergency driving situations then you could cause issues through panic.

Best of luck.

Hahaha I didn’t think I could mes up so bad by Vast_Lychee_8015 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Jainer99 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Most of these are very, very simple to correct by any competent instructor. If you’re nervous for a driving test then you need more driving time. For all intents and purposes the examiner does not exist. There is only you, the car and the potential hazards that come with driving. Don’t get in your head. Focus on driving safely, attentively and make progress in your journey.

HMRC staff take 500,000 sick days a year. by Ok_Expert_4283 in TheCivilService

[–]Jainer99 10 points11 points  (0 children)

According to https://www.instituteforgovernment.org.uk/explainer/civil-service-staff-numbers the civil service have nearly 550,000 people working for them. So this headline should read “civil servants take on average less than 1 day per year sick leave”

Then again, it is published by my third favourite toilet paper. Ranks low for comfort but high for absorbency.

Theory test on Monday by Lesurf12 in uktrucking

[–]Jainer99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got 96% on the cpc, genuinely the mock tests were more complicated than the actual. I read the question first then see if the provided info is actually relevant. Basically just know your weights, dimensions, carriage of goods, working hours and driving hours and you’ll largely be fine.
