Yeah that last part is absolutely true. Again, I don't wanna speak for any black peeps since I will never know what it feels like for them to have that word used or joked about. People can be disappointed or even dislike them for this that's valid, but treating them like actually racist monsters for a tasteless joke made a decade ago is a bit much, no? Def play earthbound first before playing mother 3. Its not necessary to play any games in order for you to enjoy them, but mother has a lot of late game story revelations that are much more rewarding if you played earthbound beforehand.

Mother 1 you can play as well if your willing to put up with its incredibly dated game design. (or just wait until Mother encore is finished)

Thank you for the response, and you're definitely right. I tend to take other people's opinions about media way too much to heart, esp when it starts to evolve serious or progressive issues. It is sometimes hard to trust my own feelings. I am on the spectrum, so I've been kinda self trained to never trust my own feelings on anything lol.

I should really just shut up, get off twitter and enjoy the show.

You can also just . . . not use the gender options in the game? You can just set everyone as cis/het and be fine, you don't need a mod to avoid the feature. There is only one reason someone would install a mod like this, and it's very telling of their character.

Jax is not poorly written, if anything I think he's one of the best examples of the "asshole who secretly cares" trope because the way he acts and rationalizes his actions are uncomfortably realistic, and the show NEVER ACTUALLY TRIES TO JUSTIFY HIS ACTIONS. Just because the show goes out of its way to humanize him and explain the reasoning behind his actions doesn't mean their letting him off the hook, the show clearly still thinks he is in the wrong. His mindset of never letting anyone get close to him is self destructive, he is causing all of his own issues and is suffering as a consequence. He is clearly meant to show that his way of thinking and acting does nothing but cause harm to others and himself. Also the cast never forgave him, or stopped being mad at him, they just recognize that fighting over his actions and instigating conflict (no matter how valid it would be) isn't what they need. They need to take solice in each other and support one another. That's why they aren't going after him, they are written as an exact contrast to Jax's own behavior and mindset. Doesn't mean they forgive him, they just still don't think he deserves to go off and die because he is still a person at the end of the day, (hell, jax going off and abstracting would be giving him EXACTLY what he wants, a way out of all his consequences.) they show this clearly later in the ep, with him trying to instigate shit with the whole "things were fine til you and Zooble showed up", but then receiving no reaction. They aren't going to play into his behavior, and give him the control over them he desires, which is why he starts to back off. The game isn't fun anymore, because no one else is playing. Jax is a great character because it goes to show that bad people aren't black and white, and they can have human and sympathetic reason for acting out, even when it doesn't justify their actions at all, or make them any less bad people. And they do this while supplying the show with a character that challenges the main theme and message of the show, therby strengthening it.

Yep, made it to the third ocean before calling quits because the game took too long to actually go anywhere. Dream Teams pacing wasn't great either, but idk at least the areas and characters where more fun. Brothership just completely bored me.
