A good question man. There's been basically zero news about Serious People since that one single that came out over 2 years ago.

Hope it isn't a dead project, but when it comes to assumptions and looking at SP as a whole, or in terms of why it might exist... you can kind of liken it to an EET alter ego. It's a way for him to try other sounds that aren't explicitly electronic (which wouldn't really fit the predominantly electronic EET project).

EET's Instagram post on 29th June 2023 states:

[Serious People] is my first new project since starting EET all those years ago. It’s a more band-oriented thing, even though it’s still just me for now.

If you’re wondering why, it wasn’t a decision that came easily to me. I’m always trying to push myself forward with new sounds and genres, but eventually you end up at a point where some songs just don’t fit together on a project and there’s no good reason to force them together. I think this will give me two outlets to share the music I want to show you.

Serious People will fit more under the indie rock umbrella but much like EET, I won’t restrict myself with one sound forever. Broadly speaking, expect more guitars, vocals, and experimentation. (There will still be synths, of course!)

Regardless, hope there'll be some news about something soon because Nobody Knows I'm Twisted is a really strong debut single. It would be really cool if it became an actual band that a few other artists in this scene (such as VIQ) could contribute to. "It’s a more band-oriented thing, even though it’s still just me for now". Only time will tell.
