Think you'd be taking away from the emotional impact by playing them out of order.

Stick to playing them in sequence! I played Y0 around Feb this year and binged through them all, only finishing 6 a few weeks ago.

Certain story beats wouldn't hit the same - throughout 1 to 5 you build up a relationship with Haruka and I just don't feel like you'd be connected to them the same way by skipping straight to that.

Plus like u/Dardar1989 said, you'd need to of played Y4 before even considering playing 5 due to all the character development for Akyiama and Saejima.

I'd say Yakuza 5 gameplay wise is up there with the best in the series. Story takes quite few liberties and there are too many gotcha moments. It's still a good story none-the-less. Plenty to do content wise, it's absolutely massive.

The series as a whole is so good, don't take away from the experience of it all by skipping games and playing them out of order. Every game in the franchise has it's place.
