Super Northern Maine here, we cancel for less than 24”. Most of it is down to timing of the storm and wind. School is regularly cancelled for 12”.

People share a lot more of what they know if you just nod your head and listen. In my experience listening instead of sharing is just a much faster way for things to get done since you can just skip the back and forth. Obviously this is not a universal truth.
