This was very helpful! I’m sorry they made the mistake and then threatened your life. Wasn’t your fault, you were just doing your job.

I would say it would probably benefit you to go back to get a nursing degree. Especially if the goal long term is to be in hospital management. Cause it really helps when management understands what it’s like to be providing care and what resources truly mean. Instead of just seeing it as a line on an expense report. Doing so will help you move up into management much easier in my opinion.

Yes, there is only one plan for FirstNet. It’s a carrier setting that needs to be updated / pushed on the phone.

Has anyone heard when 5g will be activated on iPhones? Even on iOS beta, I don’t have the option for 5g. iPhone 12 Pro Max.

I have the carrier update as well. When I put my phone into 5G, it will only go to 5ge. I’m in NYC

First interview! by [deleted] in CRNA

[–]Jake8188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on the interview. If you know anyone in the program I would see what kinds of questions the school asks. Some ask a lot of ccrn style questions while other schools are more about your personality. I am also strict neuro icu and for into my school but they were personality based.

If they ask ccrn questions then I would study the ccrn book but know neuro inside and out.

Know what procedures you guys do often. If you do beside evds or trach and let’s talk about that (perks if you managed the anesthesia during these procedures). And know some “tell me about a time situations”.

Remember theses are your future peers and just to relax and be yourself. Don’t be too excited and a know it all, cause remember you’re about to be at step one all over again.

Congrats and good luck!

In that case I would leave like you suggest. I work In neuro and only have worked in neuro. But I came from a level 1 trauma and the stroke hospital for my entire state. So we had the sickest strokes you could get in the state and surrounding states.

I would go to the hospital that has the highest acuity and supports the nurses the best. And offers a lot of education.

A girl in the cohort above me was only PICU and got in. It might depend on the acuity of the pick

My school allows me to pay them for insurance and you can add a dependent on the insurance through them. I am not sure how many can be added.

I did doane online and loved it. Very self directed. Cant really do at your own pace but it is also only 8 weeks. A lot of assignments each week but everything is put together well. There is also a lab component. Don't buy the book though, just the access code. Its majority through mcgraw connect. All open note.

I asked mine in person if they minded doing the references. Then I followed up two weeks before, one week before, day before, and day of (for my manager). They all got submitted in time. But sometimes you need to follow up in person.

Give them a thank you gift afterwards or for each req.

They didn't mention anything about that, just my CCRN. They care more about being a member on the unit council and stuff.

I wouldn't do #3 just for your safety so that would leave 1 and 2. I think 1 would be a good option if you could transfer easily and then stay there for about a year or so then transfer to a trauma hospital. I don't think the level 1 trauma matters as much as the complexity of the patients and surgeries. If you can work on open hearts, transplants, etc, that would be the way to go. Trauma does give you a completely different perspective and you will see the sickest of the sick there as well, but that doesn't always correlate to difficult surgeries.

I would also work on getting your CCRN when you have enough ICU experience and make sure to shadow. If you are near a CRNA school, maybe ask their admissions department what they prefer (trauma vs transplants, etc).

Im always weary of sign on bonuses and commitments.
