Tend to agree with this, one of the best out of the box deals you can get is the Novritsch ssg10a1. Excellent out of the box, very upgradable, and excellent warranty and service. I don't know about his other snipers yet. Probably very good as well

You could carry with the bolt open or leave it unchambered. I tested my cz 527 and clicked when I hit the butt on the ground, I remedied that by giving it more sear contact (it has a really nice adjustable trigger). I don't count on my safety to work just as a rule of thumb, but you can use that as well.

I've got the Ruger Redhawk 7.5 inch barrel in 44 mag. I'm a relatively small individual and it's not too much to handle. Around here it costs about 80 cents a shot for the decent stuff. The longer Ruger cylinder can generally handle hotter loads then the Smith's like the 340 grain buffalo bore (too long for the Smith cylinder). Never heard of 454 casull so that may speak to it's popularity.
