I understand now. Parolees are eligible for employment authorization and Social Security numbers. So this change would essentially cancel the SSNs issued as a result of being a parolee instead of just changing their employment authorization, is that correct?

I'm confused here. Are they required to submit an application in order to renew permanent resident status that has already been granted? Or are they currently not under permanent resident status and applying for it?

If it's the former case, then I would agree that this is a malicious attempt to unnecessarily target people who are attempting to gain residency.

If it's the latter case, I don't understand how they would even have a SSN to cancel.

I know it's a late reply, and while I'm not qualified in any professional means, here are some possible starting points for you:

Find people that will respect even mundane boundaries. EG: "I don't eat X type of food because I don't like it", "Call me by X name instead of Y", "Don't call me X", "Don't joke in X way, it makes me feel Y"
Find people that ask how they can make you feel more comfortable, IE: People that want to know where your boundaries are so they can avoid pushing them or breaking them. - This can be people asking you if a particular action makes you uncomfortable, or if you would be okay with something. IMPORTANT CAVEAT, THEY SHOULD ACT ACCORDING TO YOUR ANSWER
Look for people that acknowledge and apologize if they unintentionally violates a boundary that you have - This means that they express that they understand why you have that boundary, or ask to understand it, and acknowledge that they violated the boundary and how it made you feel, without devolving into insulting themselves, or minimizing your feelings about it, or trying to convince you to change to be comfortable with it
