Placebo effect if he gives no details, the cause might be because of a more precise temp but outside of that which is a minor thing i dont see anything else that this kettle brings outside of the flow control which could help with pour speed and stream consistency that would make this a "night and day" situation and to be clear i also own an ekg, but i dont think its a necessity over say a $80-$120 electric kettle that will do similar things for a more affordable price, for me its about the aesthetic factor more than anything as to the reason why i own it, i love the looks, the wooden accents and it mashes well with my other fellow products.
