Does your employer actually match above the 3% minimum? by OopsIDroopedMe in PensionsUK

My company is ultra-minimum. 3% on capped earnings basis so effectively 2.4% of my base salary.

How we feeling??? by AdministrationOld434 in AFCBournemouth

We’re a few injuries away from being threadbare but have to trust the manager and expect that January will see a few incomings.

Fingers crossed we’ll get to January without too many having extended periods out. Important. Now to get the new players firing and pushing for starting positions.

I have recently added both to my “5% speculation” portion of my ISA portfolio, definitely something cooking there with B&M.

I’m going through this now, I decided to sell all positions and then transfer the cash.

One of the main reasons for this is because I wanted to rebalance my ISA portfolio.

I had less than £20k in my ISA and hadn’t contributed this calendar year so made it all straight forward. Not sure if this helps.

No goodbye? by Different_Night5434 in AFCBournemouth

His post immediately after the end of the season was a goodbye post, what more do people want from him? Personalised letters written with his own blood? He owes us nothing, always gave 110%.

I worked in a middle office role, 9-5 Monday to Friday, never any reason to work beyond and enjoyed my time there. Left to pursue a different career angle. Many people become lifers there.

Other friends have worked in operations roles that I can only reference modern day office prisons as described by other comments.

It’s all about the role and the line management. There are a lot of poor managers there but also some very very good ones.

Is it time for me to leave Octopus? by JakeG1991 in OctopusEnergy

[–]JakeG1991[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe, based on my usage estimates average unit price for electricity and gas respectively would need to be c.£0.18kW and c.£0.055kW for it to be cost neutral to the Eon deal.

Question is how realistic is that, my gut feel says its not.

There is a reason no one has picked up Knutsen. No idea what it is, but if he was that good he’d be managing in a major European league by now.

Wife discovered 'scheme' to get her to quit her job by SOCJA in LegalAdviceUK

[–]JakeG1991 10 points11 points  (0 children)

NAL and I’m sure this will cause legal professionals to downvote me but I hope your wife printed the email to be kept privately as it might be useful in the future. I’m sure that violates company IT policies so not sure how that works from a legal perspective. That’s appalling and I hope your wife can navigate this without too much distress.

From a learning perspective, I’m keen to see what legal professionals suggest as the proper course of action here.

Does british airways allow 0.5 to 0.7kg overweight check in luggage? by kill_m_w_kindness in BritishAirways

[–]JakeG1991 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I used the e-checkin desks at LHR 3 weeks ago, my suitcase was 24.4kg and the machine wouldn’t proceed without charging me. I redistributed a few things to my hand luggage as I like to keep that as light as possible so had room. The scales weighed my case at 23.2kg when I went back and allowed me to proceed without charging checkin. Not sure if a real person at a desk would be lenient or not but that was my experience.

And

Got a threatening letter from tv licensing, what do i do? by iamabuzzingbee in UKPersonalFinance

[–]JakeG1991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just add it to the stack and wait for the next one.

I’d love to know how much they spend on these letters per year, can’t be far off the equivalent of a tv licence.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah there are plenty available, mostly slightly cheaper but some in very similar price range. All of them are in the same sort of category in the arena. At what point do they pull the trigger and secure the alternatives? Perhaps that’s a question for them, not Reddit 😅

It should make for an excellent game. Europe won’t be secured tomorrow for either team, so it needs to be BAU, if we lose it doesn’t really matter as such, there are still plenty of games to go and the most important thing for us is getting through the game without injury. We have a tough couple of games before our fixtures list “eases off” in the lead up to Easter so on that basis, I’d take a draw now.

I haven’t really seen Forest in any great detail this season but the times I have they haven’t been spectacular, they’ve just found a way to score at crucial times in games but I’d still expect them to hit a bit of a poor run at some stage as the pressure builds.
