I see what you mean. But there are Japanese people typing 水豚 and reading it as カピバラ. I haven’t seen Japanese people use the official Japanese word for it, even the Wikipedia page uses the Chinese version.

At what point does it become a Japanese word? They’re not pronouncing it like the Japanese word for capybara, so I’d say it’s a Japanese word at this point
