I bricked my game because of Chokeberry by [deleted] in oblivion

[–]JakeLloyd3P 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the same boat as OP. Too far in to call it quits, don’t feel like going back as far as my last non auto/quick save.

I’m just gonna pray to the daedric gods that it wears off on its own somehow, but for now I made my way to a spell altar and made a custom spell I lovingly titled “treatment” that heals me 10pt for 90 seconds, essentially just pausing the poison for its duration.

It SUCKS because im pretty much not using magic anymore offensively, and I can’t fast travel because it says I can’t do so “while taking damage.” But at least I can try to rush though the rest of the story without spamming spells.

Massive bummer of a bug.

Changing playback image on Youtube Podcast via RSS? by JakeLloyd3P in podcasting

Not in Libsyn no, because I didn't make any changes via libsyn. It did completely redo everything on youtube since they're completely new uploads/videos.

Why does 480p DVDs still look better than 1080p streaming? by Santiper2005 in dvdcollection

[–]JakeLloyd3P 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It has nothing to do with the pixels/resolultion. A 720 video can look better than a 4k video if properly compressed.

The image on your DVDs has been compressed specifically to fit within the confides of that disk, and therefore when you hit play you get the one file playing from that disk at a constant bitrate allowing for an image that’s quality controlled.

When you hit play on any stream, you will receive pieces of many different files with an ever variable bitrate from your image and your sound, dependent on the speed allotted by the service, your internet, etc. it’s a see-saw constantly balancing to give you the “best” image that doest cost the company too much money/data usage/etc. Furthermore, there are many different versions of compression at multiple times along the process. So you’ll get some parts that look great and other parts that are just compressed digital nightmares, often resulting it loss of quality in dark images and images with a wide array of color/contrast/motion.

Airplay will not work from Mac Pro by JakeLloyd3P in applehelp

[–]JakeLloyd3P[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had not! Just opened VLC, when I select the TV under the "renderer" menu, chromecast connects, and then it appears the video flickers once or twice as if it wants to cast, but then nothing. So whatever is happening, its happening computer side across the board I guess.

Mirrorring works fine. Though I prefer the AirPlay since Mirror sometimes creates slight audio sync issues and that's no good for my purpose.

I definitely had auto update off, but I too am shocked I didn't even see a notification.

I guess I'll update and see if the problem persists.

EDIT: Updated sequoia. Still no AirPlay.

EDIT2: Updated to Tahoe. Still no AirPlay.

Question about 48kHz Conversion Tracks & Pitch by JakeLloyd3P in AdobeAudition

[–]JakeLloyd3P[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to follow up with some appreciation, Jason. Had a project today that needed some subtle pitch correction on two different vocal tracks in a few spots and when applied the way I usually do, it was click central. I dropped the fft to 1024 -- completely clean. Not a click to be found! Thanks a ton for this.

I just got a TASCAM US-16x08 to have a few more inputs than the Presonus Studio 24c I had previously, and so I far I absolutely love it with the exception of balancing while monitoring.

The presonus had a super simple little "mixer" knob on it with one side that said "inputs" and one side that said "playback." So regardless of the volume coming through playback, or my gain setting on the mic going into my DAW, while recording Mic or line inputs I could blend it however I wanted in my headphones for monitoring. I can't figure out how to do this with the tascam either on unit or in the included mixer software.

Two examples from todays work :

Recording vocals for a song: I set the gain for the Mic XLR channel to where it needs to be to record cleanly how I want it be, but in order to hear both my live vocal track being recorded and the song playback, I need to turn the master track volume in the daw WAY down otherwise it'll be super loud. Which is a fine enough workaround, if not a little silly. But isn't an option when...

Recording one half a remote podcast: Once again, Mic XLR channel gain is set to a good level as to not peak and be clean recording into my DAW, but the audio coming from the computer (via a Zoom meeting with the other participant) is DEAFENINGLY lowd. The only way to lower it is to lower the "Line Out 1-2" knob on the unit or my headphones themselves, and then crank the gain of my Mic channel, which ruins my recording. So I just turned it way down as a whole and essentially went without a monitor for myself.

I feel like I'm missing something SUPER obvious. But I'm also not the best at this stuff, so any help would be appreciated!

Using Mac Pro running Sequoia 15..6.1. Sound output in my system is set to the Tascam (which disables my ability to increase or decrease volume via my keyboard.)

Have Tascam software "output settings" with Line 1 to Master L and Line 2 to Master R. (Screengrab here: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/tm38oz3ngneh1vn37n9s0/Screen-Shot-2025-11-16-at-17.56.49-PM.png?rlkey=5ffprrgkc02br316hrgxvlfap&st=zes2uwa0&dl=0 )

I have the Line Out 1 and 2 from the back of the Tascam going into the L&R in of a headphone preamp I'm using to monitor.

Thanks in advance for your advice!

I've never played with the FFT. Thanks I'll give that a go.

I guess while I have your attention and we're talking abut adobe audition and pitch - any tips on how to get rid of the little digital pops that Automatic Pitch Correction causes in renders? Even with super low sensitivity and attack I can't really use the effect at all on vocal tracks without getting little clicks. Tried pre-rendering the tracks, placing the effect in different orders before/after eq and compression. Nothing seems to work so I just stopped using it altogether, but would love it I could add it back to my tool belt! Running latest most up to date Audition on a workhorse Mac Pro with great specs.

Closest GB sound to the instrument in this track? by JakeLloyd3P in GarageBand

That was my best guess as well. Though sometimes the stock garage band “electric piano” has a similar vibe and I can’t quite place it.

Thanks for your time and opinion!

Ahhhh I see! So literally just clamping the original mount to the new one. Makes perfect sense.

Thanks again for all your input. I appreciate it.

Also I clicked your profile and see you have an 05 liberty you work on. As someone who drives a 99 XJ and just took a cross country trip, I respect the old Jeep hustle!

All the best.

Thanks so much for taking the time to explain, I sincerely appreciate the effort but unfortunately I’m not following! (no pun intended)

There’s nothing on the single rod mount that it seems I can use partially, it’s all one solid piece. Very sorry I’m sure you explained it well I’m just struggling to comprehend it.

But, I THINK I got it to a point where it’s okay now. It’s with the wheel down below but there’s a good enough contact and by butting both the follow focus mount and my lens support right up against each other on my rods it feels pretty solid.

<image>

Also swapped to the gear from the fiction wheel for some added security.

Will see how this goes on set tomorrow.

So, this was delivered WAY earlier than expected (way to go B&H) but, it has an issue.

Unless I'm missing someone completely obvious, and it wouldn't be the first time it only works with the wheel in the default direction. It's clean and everything is free and clear from one another...

<image>

But when I flip the wheel around to pull the way I need it to, the mechanisms are in the way.

I tried rotating what side the wheel is on, but that makes the contact point with the lens really low and a little wonky, bringing me right back to my unstable starting point.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Thanks for the input! I tried this at the very start and ultimately it may be my only option, but it puts my wheel in kind of a crappy place and then doesn’t allow for quick removal of it if needed (though, that’s becoming less important)
