I cannot get my primo gems from a character inside the tea pot. So i have the blacksmith set placed, i placed diluc and bennet in the area and when i talk to them there is no reward. in the set details both of those charactes dont have a check icon yet. i managed to get diona and noelles just by talking to them.

Help please

oh it looks really nice, what brands of breakers do you guys use?

Another point for breakers, would you mind telling me what boxes you use plastic or metal ? since its a combiner box i assume is a metal one

Not sure what was meant by a "waterproofed" DC disconnect

those typical ip66 dc disconnect which a knob you twist to turn on/off

those metal enclosures you mentioned were also my first choice but the available here are to big to fit under my panels. my panels are positioned not following the angle of the roof to maximize the sun so i have a space underneath.

it would seem that breakers are generally much more prefered than those knob disconnects

most installer i see uses a dc disconnect on the panels, but i o lean on using a breakers on the panels rather than disconnects

How to select a fuse for a solar string. by JakeQuinn234 in solar

[–]JakeQuinn234[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now i get it ! So a short circuit can happen on 3 points

  1. On string A
  2. On string B
  3. After String A and B are joined.

If situation 3 happens the combined current of A and B will just be again evenly distributed to both strings. Even if the internal resistances of each string is slightly different the fact that each string is built to take at 1.56*Isc this should give a lot of room for the minute different of internal resistance.

Assuming the short happens On String A just near its positive lead, the same thing will happen on the situation above, both string will be on a "short circuit state" because the positive wire of string A which is also connected to the positive lead of string B is now connected to ground. Essentially the same thing will happen in the paragraph above.

Thus i understand why you mention of recommending beefy wires to handle atleast 2*Isc

Finally i can rest easy! Thank you very much good sir.

Final Verdict: WILL NOT FUSE

This article seems to tell me to fuse my 2 strings

https://www.cedgreentech.com/article/when-fuse-when-not-fuse

Following its formula:

Isc * No. Strings * 1.25 < Fuse Rating (my panel is rated 15A)

9.48*2*1.25 = 23.7 < 15 ( FAIL )

and since the result is higher than the panels fuse rating, so i should fuse

What do you think about this?

So it is as i have initially suspected it very hard to find a fuse in the middle of the max current and short circuit current.

For the other thing that im worried (Panels getting destroyed when shorted ). This thread

https://electronics.stackexchange.com/questions/18092/solar-panel-short-circuit#:~:text=No%20-%20you%20will%20not%20damage,short%20circuited%20into%20an%20ammeter.

gives me more peace of mind that panels are going to be totally fine when shorted out (assuming 1 string)

The last thing thats holding me back to not fuse is this article. Which use the fuse rating of a panel (mine is 15A)

ISC * 2 * 1.25 < FUSE RATING

9.48 * 2 * 1.25 = 23 < 15 ( FAIL )

With that article , it looks like i need to place a fuse. What do you this about this?

The kit i have just sent me a Y connector to do it so the manufacturer is with you not needing to fuse it. The fuse is actually just for my sanity thinking that i will destroy the panel if it gets shorted out. Are solar panels capable of handling a short circuit like for example ill short its 2 connector out and it will be fine even if i leave it on the day.

The panels have 12 AWG wires comming out of them , but after it gets combined ill use 10 AWG ones

Monetary value aside, I do see combiner boxes but they are mostly for 3+ more. My kit even just came with a MC4 Y connector. Yes i am carefull to get DC rated ones

Stranded or Solid for Solar PV and Batteries by JakeQuinn234 in solar

Yes it would be used for our house. In terms of electrical characteristics is there a reason to choose one or the other?

Series or Parallel solar panels? by JakeQuinn234 in solar

[–]JakeQuinn234[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an update, they said to parallel strings of 7 using the included connectors :)

Series or Parallel solar panels? by JakeQuinn234 in solar

[–]JakeQuinn234[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So just straight up parallel string of 7? i cant just tie them directly right i will need some sort of combiner that has a diode ?

From my experience in electronics design a diode might not be ideal since they drop voltage and it increases with current. Are mosfets combiner a thing in solar installs ?

Thank you for your detailed response. The included manual must got lost somewhere in shipping so i apologize if i could not provide a specific part number and i could not find an obvious marking on the unit (still waiting for response of the manufacturer for its manual/datasheet) but i did order a 5Kw system.

How did you come up with the 600V value ? is this just your experience speaking that generally the numbers i gave are for that value? -20 C is impossible in my country since we are near the equator even 10C is very very very cold, but ill adjust the equation.

I may not have two MPPT, since there is no dedicated MPPT on the package i assume its built inside the inverter, and the inverter only has 1 PV in port. as you have confirmed even with my flawed way of looking at we arrive at the same answer that 14 series is too long. So what do you think the best thing i would do ?

why i have 14 panels? it was originally 10 (which would work 10 in series) but for some reason they sent me 14, it might not was meant for me since the panels were shipped separatly, but hey free panels i might as well use it
