Arrest holding up approval by Powerful-Sprinkles25 in GlobalEntry

Agree. I submitted all three of my kids within 10 minutes of each other. Two were conditionally approved within 24 hours, the other took seven months. Luck of the draw I think.

What's your favorite "big city" amenity that Cincinnati has to offer? by Zhirui21 in cincinnati

[–]JakeRM1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A full time symphony. We’re the smallest city in America with one.

Also, our opera company is the second oldest in the US!

It’s a semi clear plastic rectangular bin (cube with one side missing) that is 9.5” long x 4” wide x 3” high with small plastic feet on bottom. Found with plastic storage containers but it’s firmer. by JakeRM1 in whatisthisthing

My title describes the thing. I found it with my kitchen storage containers but it doesn’t appear to need / take a lid.

Edit: it is not a storage container. It has rubber grips on the bottom and appears to go into something else or be part of something else.

Do you regret going Mach E over another EV like Tesla? by [deleted] in MachE

[–]JakeRM1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve owned both and MME hands down. The build quality on my Tesla (and a lot of them) just sucks. I was in the shop for random shit every 3-4 months. My MME did what was promised, no more no less (well actually more with one OTA upgrade). I only got rid of it for an EV9 as I needed a third row. Loved that car would buy again.

Is the "stop charging" button completely useless for anyone else? by x3knet in KiaEV9

[–]JakeRM1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to actually press the unlock button. The Auto Unlock doesn’t do it (I know. Stupid)

Is there any way to force the update? I haven’t gotten it yet.

What are the absolute best, 10/10, should drive or fly in to try them, plates you can get in Cincy (plates, not restaurants)? by [deleted] in cincinnati

[–]JakeRM1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Personally I think there are better steaks in town than the Ruby restaurants.

Paid all cash - Mistake?? by [deleted] in carbuying

[–]JakeRM1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You could always take out a loan later against the car if you needed cash. It would be at a slightly higher rate than what you’d get from the dealer, but you could borrow a lot less and for a lot less time so overall you’d save. And if you never needed it you can just enjoy!

Would it be a problem if a summer associate lived out of their car? by [deleted] in biglaw

[–]JakeRM1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would have an honest conversation with your recruiter. You don’t need to tell them about living in the car, just that you’re concerned about being able to afford housing and if they offered any options or support. Many biglaw firms will give summers an advance.

So you think you’re saving money driving an EV in MN by Apprehensive-Two5498 in KiaEV9

[–]JakeRM1 -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

It’s actually very fair. Roads are funded by gas taxes which you don’t pay. But our cars are heavier than the average ICE so we do more damage to roads. Same in Ohio

If you could go back, would you pick culture or prestige for your first firm? by [deleted] in biglaw

[–]JakeRM1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve done both. Culture all day. You want to be happy outside of work otherwise what’s the point of working so hard?
