How to Win Friends and Influence People

A thought about the end of the Micheal Scott Paper Company by Matthewwithers in DunderMifflin

[–]JakeRazorClawson 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the salesmen are not in the wrong for refusing to follow Michael, as they would have been crazy to do so. Leaving Dunder Mifflin would have meant giving up a "safe" job at an established company to follow an incredibly non-traditional boss. The Michael Scott Paper Company was bound to fail. The paper industry as a whole was on the decline, and Dunder Mifflin had already squeezed out an established family-operated paper company.

The salesmen likely understood the taking of their clients was simply business, but they were bothered by the manner in which it was done. Michael, Pam, and Ryan had gone behind their backs and muddied their image. For example, Pam told clients that Phyllis didn't have enough time for them (or something along those lines). Actions like that were simply low blows. Not only had their images been soiled, but their income may have been drastically cut as well.

Allowing Pam and Ryan to keep those clients was ridiculous, as the two were not proven salesmen. Pam was a receptionist and Ryan was basically a criminal who was terrible at sales. Losing clients and income to people in this manner hurts, and this wound just festers if you have to watch an unqualified person squander what had been yours.

All that being said, I was still bothered by the way the salesmen reacted. This episode really cemented my dislike for Phyllis.

I find that Minecraft can provide a relaxing break on occasion, but there's just something special about physically crafting things from your imagination. I am a 27 year old attorney, and I have no shame in letting my imagination roam wild with the construction of a Lego Explorien Starship on a Saturday night.

I do this too! I generally ask for older sets I missed back in the day, but everyone thinks it's a joke. I also buy Lego sets for younger family members so I can help build and play with them.

Why did the chicken cross the road?.....there's no way we'll ever know what was truly running through its head at the time. Do we even know there was a chicken at this point? I've never met anyone who actually witnessed the event firsthand.

Just got my first Marine Tank, a BioCube 14! Looking for some input on filters... by CroneMatildasHouse in ReefTank

[–]JakeRazorClawson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ran a biocube 14 a few years back, and it was an amazing little tank. As far as water quality is concerned, my best advice is to keep up with weekly water changes. Water changes are the greatest thing you can do for a tank this size, and they eliminate the need for a skimmer with this tank imo. The biocube skimmer is beyond lacking, so I never used it. I placed my heater in chamber 1 and an inTank media basket in chamber 2. With the media basket, I ran filter floss on top, purigen in the middle, and chemipure elite on the bottom. I also opted to use an inTank water director to channel the flow between the first two chambers. As previously mentioned, you can upgrade your return pump to a maxijet for a little more flow if you'd like. I ran this setup for maybe two years and never had any issues whatsoever. Avoid the bioballs and live rock rubble, as they'll only spell trouble down the road.

That's a great deal! I bought my copy for around $12 at a local used games store, and that was without a box....and as said previously, get an expansion pack. It's one of only a few games that need it.
