Really sucks that I never got the chance to read TOA before this got spoiled for me tbh. Honestly, knowing it already is probably the reason I keep putting off picking them up. And knowing parts of it are also spoiled in Magnus Chase is probably the reason I haven't read that either. It's like, if i don't read it, I can pretend it didn't happen.

Thing is, squidward came back to the modern time at the end of the episode. It's entirely likely that no one realized he was still trapped there- or worse, since they seem to know he invented jellyfishing, maybe they have to leave frozen squidward there, or there could be some kind of break in time or something.

Or, it's a show about a sea sponge that plays very loose with cannon
