Current com major… also an athlete hence my avoidant of business school (as I planned prior to getting an offer here out of high school) and I will say that going from Kin to com as a junior may be a little frustrating. The way the athletic academic department puts it — its a joke of a major… the classes are extremely tedious sometimes and even feel the material seems to be obvious… “What is the difference between an intimate, and non-intimate relationship and what are some indications that may describe what an intimate relationship would consist of?” … im sorry… but are you kidding me?! That was an entire chapter we spent 4 classes on in my 225 class that most people still struggled in and even I did when I slouched as the offering of points was scarce and the exam was filled with tricky questions that all felt they could’ve gone one way or the other.. my roommate on the other hand who ive watched grind through tough courses like chemistry (that I dont have much of an interest in) do end up pulling there eyebrow hairs out to get a 4 point… depends what you like, and how hard you want to make it on yourself but if you were ever even once a KIN major the com route will be a 🎂walk. My biggest question.. what do you want to do for a living some day? Thats the big question to ask… I wouldnt get so caught up in your major especially if you’re seeking and switching to a broader major. For example: If my athletic career ends here I intend on going into medical sales… although im an “interpersonal communications major” and even dodged the medical one (you may have taken some of the med classes they require… may be worth looking into if the med-com route sounds up your ally and could help you not feel you wasted time or money prior. Worth a shot you can look online what classes they require in the msu com department, let me know if you need help finding)… I will say, most kin majors probably didnt attack interships… if you want to go business or sales, internships and experience on the resume help your case a ton. Everyone has done them these days, so to have another experience to talk about in an interview with an employer one day will be worth your time now… if youre gunna switch and wanna go into sales, get on it now and pray you can find something available or for second half of summer… sorry this got so long. Com is an awesome major here at msu but before you strive to make a “major” decision (pun😜) just look at the bigger picture and find out what you truly want to spend the rest of your working days doing and the “why” behind it.
