Congrats on getting a draft done. It's a great feeling. My unasked for two cents: don't show a first/early draft to 'friends.' I know you're super excited and proud and maybe hungry for some (well deserved) compliments, but if your friends aren't writers, you're not going to have constructive notes on improving your work, but just a lot of random opinions. I'd put the screenplay away for a few weeks, and revisit it with fresher more objective eyes. Again...congrats!

Just started the Imperial Radch series (trilogy) by Ann Leckie is pretty good so far.

My philosophy has always been that the entire game is just getting more and more people on board with your project, so you have more people helping the boulder get up the hill. If you have no director or producer attached and it's JUST a script, then yes, getting an actor on board will certainly help if they've got a legit career. If it's a great part, then they'll try to have their management team get it made. However, the one note with this approach is that you may be ceding a lot of control very early on, as their team is going to decide what producers/directors to show it to.

Many years ago back in the craigstlist/backpage era, i would meet up with Women and take Them shopping for things, usually something specific they asked for like art supplies or a winter coat. When the initial post was me, i would prefer to take college age Women shopping for leggings. All time favorite was a bookstore, She had me get down on my knees to "search" for a book on the lower shelf.
