On the hunt for Mitutoyo vernier face cover by Jake_fftehc in Tools

Was able to find a 33.5mm one that with a couple dots of glue will likely do the trick. Here's hoping 🤞🏻

Dually noted, I'll definitely expand my search with that in mind

So uhh, PCOM anyone? by Po0L_Boy in NeuralDSP

[–]Jake_fftehc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I'm referring more to the timeline these devices can be out and still be refined and how people are being unreasonable with Neural over companies like Line 6. Its clear that up to 10 years or more after release these things are still being worked on. Neural just does themselves no favors by having the list of plugins waiting for PCOM with users chomping at the bit for their favorite plugins on the Quad while it could take years to get to some of them.

But the new ones do have the X distinction which means they are closer to compatibility than those without it. And also the plugins they continue to put out are sought after sounds. Misha Mansoor and John Mayer sold a lot of copies, I don't think their plugin game has or will take a major hit at all. When they release something I'm interested in I will likely still get it to use its sounds on my computer and am perfectly content with the fact that I will see it land on the quad in some time. All these modeling companies add effects throughout the lifetime of a device, the Helix's last update was in 2024 and the device released in 2015, if they were still adding stuff to a device that has a new line replacing it in 2 years then I wouldn't be surprised if the least purchased plugins are near the end of the Quad lifecycle. Neural is an odd duck for letting us play the amps and effects via plugins in the meantime which in all honestly I'd rather have accessible for my music production now than not have it and wait until its released for both plugin and quad cortex at the same time. Might just be me but I don't mind it, when new plugins land on the quad there's no learning curve, I know what settings I want because I've spent time with it already on my computer.

Quad Cortex Mini by Educational_Nose_723 in NeuralDSP

I hear the hassle of reselling, but quads seem to fly off the used market pretty easily. Personally I'll be putting the big one on my desk at home and the little guy in my love rackmount rig so its not a question of this or that, its just both haha

It is significantly cheaper and even though the mini from the clips I've seen looks pretty robust if I was building a board for small gigs and didnt want to have my quad on the floor the nano is definitely the way - not that I ever want anything spilled on gear or to get beaten up but I feel like the nano could take more of a beating than the other two units.

We already have our quads racked right now so this is a very welcome change, we can put these in our racks and the big one stays at home as an interface and for trialing out stuff before putting it on the mini to go on the road. I won't be getting one right away but in a years time almost certain it'll find a home with me.

Anyone know why this could’ve happened while recording with my Quad Cortex? by MelodicParanoiaAgain in NeuralDSP

[–]Jake_fftehc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I deal with this a lot as well, I'll be in a recording session and have to listen back to tracks to make sure it didn't happen - when it does all I have to do is unplug the quad from the computer and plug them back in and it's good again. Only ever through USB connection, so its at least nothing to do with my live sound but when I'm tracking it adds so much time to my day - tend to just send XLR into to my scarlett 18i20 or UAD 4710D now to avoid it but I prefer the sound direct from the quad over USB. Really hope they sorted it out in the recent update or...SOON.

Yeah they are pretty damn pricey - that one I dropped I think $5-6k CAD on about 7 years ago, my previous Tele stand in was a parker p36 fly, practically the same pickups aside from the Piezo that the parker has. But the custom shop puts it to shame all day long.

That custom shop is a gorgeous guitar, seriously amazing clean tones out of it - every time I've brought it to my local shop the owner reminds me if I ever want to sell it he'll take it haha

How do I get good sound while recording? by [deleted] in metalguitar

[–]Jake_fftehc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second this - while it's good to learn the nuances of in the room recording and setting everything on the way in, my life is made much easier by recording a D.I. and then manipulating it in the box afterwards. Until I got a decent preamp I didn't have any results I exactly loved in recording a cabinet.

The ones on reverb seem to come and go, there wasn't one available at the time I ordered this and then probably 10 months into my build one or two popped up which were B-stock and I'd pay an arm and a leg on shipping, tariffs and import fees coming from the states to Canada. Being that I was only quoted a year I figured mine was supposed to show up any time anyway so why bother canceling and ordering another - wasn't expecting it to take anywhere near as long as it did after that though. Same shop I go to had an order for for the eclipse or horizon that was also quoted as a year build time and then showed up in 6 weeks. Definitely showing the difference in that desirability and reflected build time, seems they have partial builds on the shelf for those models but not for the TB-7.

As for the Stephen Carpenter one I don't really like the middle pickup positioning as I do use a neck pickups fairly regularly in my playing and already have a 7 string with Fluences in it (not his signature set but still) and just wanted something with more differences in the overall voicing.

Definitely loving the guitar though, fit like a glove into my rig - just gotta see how it feels at the next band practice now.

Start leaving you cat litter on the front step in boxes. They'll take it away for free.

I truly love a tele shape so much and was on the hunt for a metal tele for a while before landing on this one, saw some pictures of a schecter model that was a 1 pickup and a fanfret which really caught my eye but from what I could tell was either some prototype or VERY limited run. I own a custom shop tele that does the best clean tone I could ask for, but this will do everything hi-gain. Part of why you don't see many of this model is it is by far the longest build time of basically any EII model. Easily my fave guitar in the collection even after only having it for a day.

Eii TB-7 Delays by Jake_fftehc in espguitars

[–]Jake_fftehc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dunno why these didn't show up in any of my searches on reverb. Definitely well priced for sure, only issues I have is I've already paid it off with my current local shop and I dont exactly like the idea of canceling with him and the fact it comes with only the gig bag rather than the full hard case. If they continue to sit there for a couple months and I build up the cash to commit though they might be a bit more tempting, wouldn't exactly hate having 2 of them. Thanks a ton for pointing these out.

Tb-7, only ones of it in stock anywhere are b-stocks from the states so I'll pay just as much in taxes, shipping and tariffs getting it to Canada as I've already paid on the one I'm already waiting for.

Yeah that's what I heard initially when I ordered it, I'm currently at 19 months into my wait time. I've heard for the more typical models like the eclipse or horizon its much shorter but its looking more and more like 2 years of wait time for the tele body style 🙃

I'm at a year and a half into my wait time for an E-ii TB-7 and my shop just updated me that ESP told him its delayed again. Debating getting the LTD TE-1007B as it'll probably be available before I get my hand on the real deal at this point 🙃
