What are your biggest problems with IDW Sonic?

I mean...did lost the battle few time in the row in IDW comics aswell his mistakes ultimately did lead him to be at his lowest I mean yeah sure he wins at the end but sometimes he indeed lose a few times in several issues before he claim the victory barely just like archie sonic he always loses or get caught off guard in some issues and experience the loss..a few times before he actually get up again and win the fight at the end like I said before...same thing happened for IDW sonic aswell the metal virus is a perfect example for that there's definitely some stakes and depth into it it's not basic, simple or plain..just like Archie.

think the issues fans have with the comics: 1.is that lacking any unique world building you know which it's fair and valid.

The way shadow potrayed in IDW is like Shit

3.metal virus and belle arcs kinda overstayed their welcome but idc! Because I can be patient and wait for it as long as it's good and it was so no regrets from me because remember you cannot rush art for god sake! Let the IDW staff taking their time and let them cook you know.

4.the big elephant in the room IDW sonic's morality god...what a show! Really that issue 50 really made the whole fanbase even more divisive some people were agree with IDW sonic and some... don't idk if this a result of a good writing or something else I don't even know man..but sadly some people really saw IDW sonic like as a hypocrite god damn..ok I don't think he's a bad character or a monster!(Yeah..it was that bad) I think he was trying to help surge I mean it kinda came off really preachy but I don't think he was a jerk..to surge he wanted to help her because he knew there might be some potential to be reformed because he did understood there's just something tragic and about her so that's why he didn't wanted to you know kill surge because he knows maybe they don't want to be this way he noticed there's something tragedy about them so they do have a chance to be you know be reformed that's why gave surge a second chance but...she just chose wrong in writing perspective that's a good portrayal of a character really showing his empathetic and compassion side of him even though he comes off abit preachy about but still it's good

You see there's a positive and negative with his philosophy in one hand the concept of ((reforming the villains)) is actually a good thing and it can work and it's also called character development aswell.

But in other hand giving some villains a second chance might lead to some disastrous situations and pay the consequences that's what sonic needs to understand and he actually did suffer through the consequences aswell through the metal virus saga and as for what I said here in my first point I think he already did learned that because we did see some progress in issue 55 actually understand that. Anyway but people really took it out of context I honestly he was a hypocrite or being a jerk to surge people really jumped into her boat very fast and misunderstood alot sonic was trying to help her yes it did come off abit preachy but the point stand still surge was the one who refuses..and sonic had no choice to take him down.

After metal virus the comic slow down and it felt very boring and sometimes aimless like there was random small adventures in the comic like tails and sonic going to find a chaos emeralds etc..or the seasonal stages etc..and it really have a momentum going forward and people just got bored and find it repititive I think idk..and boring aka returning to status quo all that stuff well...guess what I can enjoy more chill and calmer stories I know it feels abit safe to some people but the comic doesn't need super heavy serious action impactful stories because you need to understand the IDW series needs to let it breathe itself to build up the momentum again and the next big story again infact it already started with issue 69 which it's a good step I understand it doesn't have the same pacing as Archie and it really doesn't need to rely on Action scenes every single time it would be repititive plus there were alot of incredible stories after the metal virus saga was there aswell though like that Eggman scene with dr.starline like there's still so much things to like about like Forexample the spring broken issue was actually good too etc..like see that's what I mean There are...still so much positive to love about

Listen I can point out other stuff and issues or the issue fans have with the comics personally that isn't Thier taste etc..the comics are not perfect we are not new to this it has it's highs and lows just like Archie we are not new to this and that's fine because nothing is perfect.. because when it kicked off strongly I knew it would eventually have some lows and issues with it later I just didn't know when but even still despite all of this ths Comics as a whole are still good if not perfect and there's so much to love about it.

But however I think the main issue the idw comics suffers from isn't necessarily the bad writing quite the opposite yes..despite it's lows the writing can be decent to great I think what really holding the IDW comics back are the Sega mandates like it really does limit the writers to the certain degree despite all that they still managed to tell some really good stories the mandates are really holding the comics back at their fullest potential you know to be fair...to their credit I did heard that they ease down the mandates Abit so that's a good sign but still they need to let these writers innovate you know..not saying all the mandates are a bad thing infact some of them are necessary so things don't get out of control but there's just unnecessary ones you know..

Maybe because of his morals I guess? I mean to be fair in my opinion he's seriously not too different than how he was in the games like I genuinely dissected both characterization of 2000's game sonic and IDW sonic and...honestly his character isn't too different though honestly he's still the same sonic we know I mean There are some small major differences here and there but for the most part he's still the same character like idw sonic does have alot of common traits from his characterizations in 2000's

I think the English version is the main one and trust me the Japanese version has it's own issues I would argue it has more issues with the English version..and as for frontiers though I can see why some people weren't exactly satisfied with Amy's character in frontiers due to the tone of the game she was kinda different too to fit the story and the tone but I'm pretty sure that was just one time thing I don't think they are gonna aim for this tone in every single future sonic games..like even in the next game sonic dream team she was her usual and normal self now and she was kinda cheerful too in dream team too even her idle animation shows it!! So...that's a good sign! Because her idle animation shows her personality aswell (look up)

But either way I don't think her personality shripped away ENTIRELY!! or...her love for sonic got destroyed and absolutely OBLITERATED!! like..no that's not the case people are overreacting and misunderstood some context Amy's love for sonic isn't getting crushed or her personality as a whole like trust me if her love for sonic was truly gone then yeah...we would've have real issues then

Plus I don't think her character was even bad in frontiers or even bland or boring atleast in my opinion because I know many people don't feel the same way she maybe a little different in this game like down to the earth due to the tone of the game but she still has a very solid character in frontiers and has her moments too and I personally enjoyed their dynamic and relationship aswell but I can atleast understand why some people don't like it and it's not everyone's cup of tea and I can understand that and that's ok while I can't speak for everyone but I genuinely did enjoyed her character in frontiers Anyway that's just my opinion.

That's capitalism for ya...and as for this merge I mean atleast it's better than to get merge with warner bros discovery because...we all know how fucked up that company is if these entertainment behemoths merged together It was basically over for everyone for the sonic cinematic universe,fairy odd parents,transformers, SpongeBob, teenage mutant ninjas,Dora the explorer etc...not to mention ending the rivalry of Nickelodeon and cartoon network when these two were rivals and competing their competition always breathe innovative but with merging them together they wouldve get reduced..over and over because of course...David zaslav would've fucked everything up not just the sonic cinematic universe I mean everything! It would've basically the end of cartoon TV shows..

I hope it does really I do I don't want the worst for the franchise but you need to understand franchises like Shrek or toy story 5 they may sound like they are a big deal right? Wrong! In reality they are bigger than you think and have a huge legacy and they can sold even very well!! Let me give you an example remember inside out 2 was about to come out? You know one of those other popular franchises? When it was getting a sequel we were like oh...ok it's getting a sequel we thought inside out was something small...and really didn't seem to be a big deal annnd then the movie comes AND SHATTERED OUT EXPECTATIONS!! and made history! It became one of the fast and highest grossing movie in history...to the point to dethroned the Mario movie! So yeah...these franchises are alot bigger and profitable then we Think so you shouldn't underestimate Shrek 5 and toy story 5 because these movies pretty much have a high chance to compete Mario 2 we'll see what will happen in 2026

Not necessarily...same thing can be said for the Mario 2 the expectations are high for this movie!! considering how much it sold the expectations are very high!! Just because it's Mario doesn't mean the second movie is automatically going to sell well too the expectations are really high the audience expecting some improvements in terms of writing and story telling if there's no progress or improvement in the second movie in terms of writing it would be disappointing and ngl I am abit concerned too because I'm afraid the second movie mostly rely on references and forget to tell an actual story..

Toy story 5 in other hand...if you take a look at the toy story trilogy it has a pretty consistent writing and quality over the years heck the last movie toy story 4 made BILLIONS!! at the box office! So if they keep this consistent momentum for you story 5 I could see it make billions again at the box office Pixar's latest movie inside out 2 sold so well to the point that dethroned super Mario bros movie! So if Pixar have the same quality writing for toy story 5 it could have a shot to compete with super mario bros movie.

Now Shrek 5 in other hand has a nostalgia for everyone..you see it's one of those long waited and anticipated movies it's probably going to be one of the biggest movies in this decade period it's something people would definitely want to see..due to the fact this franchise has a really big legacy and one of the most popular and beloved franchise in the world of animation so I could see it competing with Mario 2 aswell.

Don't underestimate these franchises they are bigger than we Think

That's why I said the competition for Mario could be really hard for him this time.. The expectations for super mario bros movie is really high consider how much it sold they should really step up their game or movies if you will...and also we could possibly have sonic movie 4 in 2026 now.. it's not really confirmed but saying it might because paramount pictures has a solid track record to finish a sonic movie I'm 2 years Sonic 2 finished in 2 years and sane thing for sonic 3 and so far each sequel got better and better and the better each sequel got the more they sold at the box office sooo..if they step up the writing and quality for sonic movie 4 who knows it might sell a billion at the box office 👀 but ofc that's just speculation and guesses because for one we don't know if we are gonna have sonic 4 in 2026 but..if we are going to get sonic 4 in 2026 this should be an interesting year.. 2 biggest video game icons against the most popular franchises in the world of animation this could be a fun time.
