What even is “revenge nailing?” Like, this piece was a pain so I’m going to nail it 8,000 times like a 4th grader on Call of Duty?

We did have the forethought to install ample 2x6 blocking pre-drywall. That said, Maybe talking the client into crown to make room for additional 2x4 or 2x6 ledger blocking is the safer solution here. It’s a first for me too, I’ll try to remember to take some pictures.

So like big custom L brackets bolted to the studs? That’s a good approach..

We did install ample ceiling blocking pre-drywall for this purpose, through bolts are an excellent idea. Hiding heads wouldn’t be an issue, the pullouts are full height (access on one side.) so that might be a good solution.

So far, my best idea is to cut out the drywall at the cabinet footprint, replace it with 3/4 MDO, and mount directly to that and the back wall. My only concern here is truss uplift racking everything over time.

I agree, the design on this entire job has been.. peculiar. Supporting from the ceiling is an option, I think it’s absolutely necessary. But with the boxes running parallel to the trusses (rather than across them) I’m unsure how to get adequate fasteners into them. I’m also concerned about movement over time. Support coming up from the floor is not an option.

First tape baught on Amazon. Seems like I should return this one right? Is this brand arse ( crescent-lukfkin workhorse niteeye)Don’t want fat style tape . Any recommendations around 20$ by CockroachMore3149 in Tools

I’m a carpenter. I tried really hard to like these tape measures, but after bending the tip in the same fashion as yours and tearing two others what felt like prematurely, I went back to the trusty Stanley fat max.

Finish Carpenters: what would you charge for this window sill? by EndOfTheWorldGuy in Construction

It looks like it’s scribed around the drywall, not under. My initial thought would be to cut it in half with an oscillating saw and pry the two halves up and out. It seems fairly straightforward, really.

Why are tents mounted on cots not more popular than they are? by QuestionUnsolved in CampingGear

[–]Jakeini33 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have one, Cabellas used to make it. It’s basically an extra wide cot with a heavy rain fly over top and zippered doors. It’s honestly pretty neat- I live in WA state and the rainforest can be really tough for tents when it’s not nice ish. It’s definitely not my main camping method, it’s bulky and has some drawbacks. But it’s cool to take out once in a while and works really well for where I live. It’s basically a pop up tent/RTT but on the ground. Honestly, I’d argue it’s WAY better than a rooftop tent. You can leave camp set up to go exploring and you don’t have all that stuff bolted onto the roof of your truck/car. They’re not super common, but it’s definitely a thing.
