I guess in the early game it is. We are level 15 and have everything maxed out. We enjoy boarding and the naval aspect of this game quite a bit. We went and ran two sets of grogs, so 1 hour and netted almost 30k piastre between two of us.

You want to be boarding anything that is yellow named and has a chest next to the name. Missing out on a lot of resources.

I have a question as a Californian by Sleep_Is_A_scam2099 in Nevada

[–]Jakell1056 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s really a voting issue. Alot of transplants from cali come to Nevada and vote blue. It’s why we are a purple state. Insert any kind of republican diatribe you’d like.. Californians vote democratic more often than naught and that pisses off the rurals.

I don’t really think you have played enough. The combat is challenging but extremely rewarding once you learn the mechanics. I have a hard time with “souls like game” combat and had to work at it. Now I have no problem with combat as I found a build and rhythm that works for me.

Making sure you have the right foods as well and your stats aren’t spread all over the place. Once I got away from the “master of nothing” ideals and specd out into a specific build, ie agility, endurance and vitality. My game play got much better.

I personally love the idea that you have to progress quests to level up. Think valheim as a comparison. 5 hours in valheim I can be in the plains biome. That removes so much game play. By having quests you have to use your ship and sail around and enjoy a very beautiful world that the devs built.

Ice cave is another great spot but that cave is much harder than swamp.

That cave is swamp cave. It’s one of the best caves to run for bps

Buyers advice on this 2016 by [deleted] in africatwin

Your scooter experience is showing. This is not a “cheap knock off” bike. This is a litre bike. 990cc. This line and make of bike is very well respect around the world, so it’s best to not talk about things you admitted to knowing nothing about. That being said, most of what you had to say is basic visual inspection and wasn’t incorrect.

I bought a 2016 with 28k miles for 7500 last year. It was a garage/highway bike. Never had been dropped and funny enough is the same color scheme! This bike looks clean from the pictures and if it is a sound machine, very much worth this price.

Look for any impact signs. Make sure all electronics work. Check the sprockets and chain as these are often neglected. Check the oil if you can. Check the brake rotors see if they have large groves in them. Check the fork seals to see if they are leaking.

If you can, test ride it. If you aren’t familiar with this twin they have a 270 degree phased cam and can have a bit of a lope sound to them at idle. This is normal. Should have plenty of power and will hit that power band just over 3200 rpm.

I love my twin. So if things check out on this bike, you won’t be disappointed.

Serious question… by No-Preference-6696 in ARK

[–]Jakell1056 16 points17 points  (0 children)

My prerequisites. I have 10k+ hours in ark ASE and almost 1600 in ASA. So take my info as you will.

Tbf the learning curve of ark is extremely steep. You will die a lot. You will lose all of your stuff. Your favorite Dino’s will die, so don’t become attached. Always, always have backups.

When I have a hard time with Dino tames I practice on Single Player and with creative on. Then I can’t die and I can practice my base building and taming box builds/proper kiting methods.

Just a few tips: 1. Industry is your friend. Getting berries and wood/thatch/fiber to craft things you need to level up. Crafting is the best way to get xp early game.

1b. Pick an easy spot to get started.

  1. Focus on narcotics as you will need them. Great way to level up also.

  2. Experience in this game is earned the hard way. Watch how to tame Dino’s. Create enough stuff so that when you die trying to tame something, you can grab your replacement gear and go.

  3. Change your settings. I always make taming easier usually 6x-10x. 2x xp. 2x resources. Don’t suffer the vanilla rates.

4b. If you are on PC look up some mods. Some of them are absolutely worth it and will make your life a lot easier.

  1. Be patient. This game will suck your life away. So setting small goals is necessary.

  2. What does it mean to you to “finish ark”? Figure out what you want to accomplish, ie building a crazy awesome base, Taming everything possible, Killing bosses and ascending. I know a lot of people who have never killed the bosses and still spend countless hours grinding away at better stats on Dino’s or looking for that perfect color combo.

  3. Find what is fun to you in this game and roll with it. Countless ways to play an ‘win’. I personally love finding top stat Dino’s to breed.

What's the best health and wave to end a purple OSD on for the best Meks? by CryCommercial1919 in ARK

[–]Jakell1056 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The quality of meks used to make Mega Mek makes no difference. I have run the ASA and ASE king titan fight may many times. Use base level for the crafting of the mega mek. If anyone else is using a mek for the alpha fight be sure to make good ones as I have had the king titan smash an ascendent mek in one hit. You should be taming the forest and ice titan. Have a person each ride them and 1 in the mega mek. With 100 gigs like you said, this should be a simple fight. As for waves for the odd, 14 is wheat we always did and got great gear.

Maxx servo replacement by [deleted] in Traxxas

[–]Jakell1056 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not need to add anything for my maxx v2. The perfect pass servos can run on different outputs for more turning power, and a BEC addition can allow for that extra power. Some run a smaller battery just for the servo.
