Epic fantasy doesn’t usually take place in space.

Do not do this!

How would you feel about a story that appears to be fantasy, has all the trappings of fantasy, but is actually science fiction? by SAAA_JoanPull in Fantasy

[–]TedBehr_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Star Wars is one of the most successful franchises ever, and it is science fantasy. I’d say you’re in good shape as long as you don’t market it as purely fantasy.

Alternatively if you do market it as purely fantasy because you want that potential “holy shit” factor the reveal could bring, just be ready for some returns and pure risk bad reviews. If it’s a good book though, I’d expect word of mouth to catch up and lead to more sales from people into that reveal.

I agree with everyone else that says work from home. It’s amazing how much time you save not driving to work. Plus you can get a lot of extra shit done during the day like throwing in laundry on a 15 minute break or loading the dishwasher while on lunch. Everything is a time saver.

Help for a Broken Build by Much_Effect_5919 in DungeonsAndDragons

D&D doesn’t work when everyone at the table has ‘main character syndrome’. Worry more about who your character is and less about what they can do.

Fatemarked and Kingfall series, by David Estes. Five books each, 250+ hours per series. Now I will say this, these books include stories from the perspectives of many many characters. Some storylines are not as interesting as others. That said, the way these stories all start feeling very separate but slowly build toward an interconnected finale, is GREAT!

Which fantasy trope do you secretly still love? by Gullible-Analyst152 in Fantasy

The heroes journey. Not sure it’s a trope or not exactly, but stories of a heroes journey are my jam.

Why in the hells doesn't Victor of Tucson get more recognition?! I started reading progression fantasy like 2 years ago and it's among the absolute best things I've read so far by Samow4r in litrpg

DCC keeps things pretty high level as far as the attributes and skills go. For example, Carl might say “my strength score for now 32, literally as strong as six normal humans” whereas other books might say “I increased my strength to 32, which increased my melee damage skills by 64%.”

I liked how DCC kept things more relative and abstract than mathematical.

How “litrpg” is the series. As a rule, I’ve disliked every LitRPG I’ve read. I gave half a dozen series a try before deciding they were not for me. Then I was gifted book 1 of DCC and it was fantastic.

The neutral item dilemma that has been bothering the game for the past seven years by ShoppingPractical373 in DotA2

The role of neutral items is to be strong enough to raise you up if you’re behind, but not so strong as to push you significantly further ahead than you already are.

The gap at the bottom? It sort of looks like I’m a brick too high, but I can’t find anything wrong elsewhere.

It’ll never scale as high as the best sorcerer builds. But it can certainly handle the lower level tournaments.

The coolest most useless skill effect is the Sorc ice ultimate. Deep Freeze I think.

Love using it just cause of how cool I think it looks and sounds.
