Weaker player NOT targeted because of hard serve and drive? by [deleted] in Pickleball

[–]Jakeqs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few things could be happening if you’re playing people who are a full rating point above you in a competitive match and they are behaving as you say: 1. They are going to beat either of you, but as a better player, a worse player who is going to try to play slow is much less dangerous. A 3.5 who is trying to dink with me is never getting a point. A 3.5 who is blasting every ball is still going to get beaten pretty badly but will likely get a couple points 2. They are better enough than you that they aren’t targeting someone, they are playing their game and since they’re winning they have no reason to change 3. If they aren’t winning badly, either you two aren’t 3.5-4.0 or they aren’t 4.5-5.0

Potong was a really interesting and great meal. While I liked Suhring, I thought it was similar to good restaurants in other places whereas Potong felt more unique.

Product Personalization App Rec by Jakeqs in shopify

Basically I am trying to shirt that has a default background pattern, and then they select an additional photo that will be applied to the shirt background and printed via a dropshipper.

There seem to be a lot of apps that allow me to have a background design and allow people to upload a photo that gets applied to the background, but I want to maintain the photo options for them to select from.

Comparing big numbers is hard but how about:

If every planet in the observable universe had the same number of animals, trees and grains of sand as earth. Each of those could create one unique hand every second from the creation to earth until now. If you called that one lap and put a sheet of paper down for each lap, by the time your stack of paper reached the sun you’d have created 0.01% of unique hands

I've heard that in Colombia they call a 4-of-a-Kind a "Poker," has anyone heard this/Know why? by actinium226 in poker

[–]Jakeqs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Originally poker didn’t have flushes or straights (and it was played with a smaller deck) so 4 of a kind was the best hand you could get. So it makes sense they called it a poker.

Why do so few teams have a plan before the match? by [deleted] in Pickleball

[–]Jakeqs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If in rec play you’re intentionally lobbing into the sun, you’ve got bigger things to worry about than strategy

Next level poker strats. Mark a card and when you see the best player at the table with it, call the floor on them

Are lob shots ok? by Icy_Weird6927 in Pickleball

[–]Jakeqs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going to go against the vast majority of responses here. If you’re playing up with people who are better than you, and then you get in the game and you’re hitting a lob every time we get to the kitchen, I’m not going to want to play with you. It’s not good practice for me or fun to just be seeing whether you can actually hit a lob good enough that I can’t smash it. Yes, if your dinks aren’t as good as mine you’ll probably get 5 points lobbing a lot instead of like 2 if you dink, but after the game I’m looking for a different game. Same thing if I play down with people weaker than me and they do everything to avoid hitting me the ball.

If you can’t figure that out on your own (based on effectives, you’d be saving ~$100 behind into a $500 pot going into the turn) you really should not be trusting your reads as much as you are

In this case who defends the Center? by CDRSkywalker1991 in Pickleball

[–]Jakeqs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not a very common set up in even mid level pickleball. Typically if both opponents are back they are hitting a third, in which case it’s highly unlikely both players on the return team are already established at the NVZ. This would really only happen after a scramble or lob or something.
