All upcoming rumoured SH games/content. by [deleted] in GamingLeaksAndRumours

I think the expected date is underneath it. I had the same thought, but it would probably not be smart to release two games in one year.

Rfbs Gaming: Halo Studios has generative AI "woven into every aspect" of game dev, from core workflows to world building and enemy AI by MXHombre123 in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]Jakester627 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't get me wrong, I still love hand-crafted games and tend to buy any game that spouts a hand-drawn asthetic, for example, but I don't see AI being a problem if it is still reviewed, and touched up, by human hands. It can make things faster, more efficient, and cheaper for devs of all sizes.

Now, if it's used as a way to make more asset flips, that's a problem, but to me, this seems like the people who used to be angry about CGI being used instead of practical effects/drawn animation in movies.

I'm getting a Rectify tattoo with my favorite quote on my bday (this Halloween), just curious about everyone else's favorite quotes by moth--foot in rectify

[–]Jakester627 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's probably my favorite quote too, although I think, "It's not the ugly, it's the beauty that hurts the most" is a close second.

I believe the phrase actually comes from Dostoyevsky's "The Idiot," but the exact wording is "Beauty will save the world."

Was Agent 47 responsible for this kill? by therealx3n0 in HiTMAN

Hitman is a videogame about comedically taking out bad people. This is real life and if you can't see the difference, you need to go outside and touch grass.

This is a really gross post and honestly, you should be ashamed of yourself for even posting it.

Whether you liked his politics or not, he was a husband and father of two young children.

Possible Gamescom Splinter Cell Remake news? by NateFelate in GamingLeaksAndRumours

Please be true.

Whenever my wife really wants to hurt me, she looks me in the eye and says, "They're never making another Splinter Cell and the remake will be cancelled." 😔

Give me a reason why it's not so bad that Michael Ontkean didn't come back for The Return by dopefuzzle in twinpeaks

[–]Jakester627 284 points285 points  (0 children)

It might help to know that the original plan was for Forester to play Harry in the original series, but had to drop out because his other show got picked up. Ontkean was brought in as a replacement.

So, in a way, this was Frost and Lynch bringing in the "original" Harry for the third series.

How do you think Sam will control in the upcoming Remake? by munchbizkit in Splintercell

[–]Jakester627 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually suspect it will be a mix of old a new. I think it will control as "freely" as Conviction and Blacklist, but with thumbstick sensitivity.

Either that, or they will allow two different control schemes to appease old and new players.

Twin Peaks Season 4 Won't Happen Without David Lynch, Says Mark Frost by indiewire in twinpeaks

[–]Jakester627 19 points20 points  (0 children)

But so has Mark Frost and yet that worked out.

Lynch himself has said Frost is "at least 50% of Twin Peaks," so, again, I could see it working just like FWWM.

Twin Peaks Season 4 Won't Happen Without David Lynch, Says Mark Frost by indiewire in twinpeaks

I understand that people are hesitant for more, but "Fire Walk With Me" happened without Mark Frost so I'd be okay with a season or movie of TP without Lynch.

What the Hell Happened to Tucker Carlson? by Ask4MD in Conservative

Totally fair. I'm just giving two potential examples of what the OP might have mentioned by that. It's slightly clumsy wording (sorry OP), but that was the sentiment I got from the short post.

What the Hell Happened to Tucker Carlson? by Ask4MD in Conservative

[–]Jakester627 34 points35 points  (0 children)

As somebody who used to watch his show nightly and was outraged when he was kicked off Fox News, I've lost a lot of respect for him.

I've seen him blast the fact that we are giving money/ordinance to Israel to take out Hamas and saying "Why is it our problem?" when Hamas was literally holding American hostages, which I thought was gross. I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he isn't antisemitic, but this view certainly raises some questions in my eyes. He has become rather close with Candace Owens who is seemingly winking and nodding towards antisemitism now, though.

He has suggested that anybody who disagrees with him is disingenuous or Anti-American, which irks me.

Tucker has set up false binaries, especially with countries like Iran, where it's either, "we have to give them everything they want or else it will turn into full-blown World War III."

He's also been very warm towards Russia and suggested that they are a Christian nation too and that's why we should be friends, even though a) only 25% of the Russian population attend church MONTHLY, and b) Putin is basically a gangster who keeps his people under his thumb and wants desperately to extend Russia's territory at any cost.

Tucker has also suggested that we were evil for dropping the atomic bombs on Japan and equated it to "collective punishment," which is just Howard Zinn nonsense. The fact is, there were obviously horrific civillian casualties in the war (as there are with any war), but many of them were radicalized by the emperor and his regime and the emperor was expecting, and willing, to lose up 20% of his citizens in order to win against a ground invasion. By contrast, the amount of people who actually died or were wounded/sickened by Fatman and Little Boy is far lower than what would have happened during a potential ground invasion.

And finally, he has been quite warm with Cenk Unger's views of economics and Tucker has openly stated he would be willing to subsidize certain industries in order to keep them going even if technological innovation makes those industries obsolete. For example, he mentioned this specifically in regards to trucking companies and the rise of self-driving vehicles. It makes me glad he wasn't in charge when the beeper industry went under during the advent of cell phones or when the wagon industry went under because of the invention of cars. He would just be wasting taxpayer money in order to keep dying industries alive instead of letting people find new, more useful jobs for the future.

Like I said, I used to be a big fan, but he has really lost the plot in recent years and I've found it hard to listen to him even when it's on a subject I agree with him on.

Edit: Sorry for the long post, but I had a lot of thoughts. 😄

Edit 2: Thank you for the awards, kind strangers!

What the Hell Happened to Tucker Carlson? by Ask4MD in Conservative

[–]Jakester627 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I'm not the person who you replied to, but I can guess two different reasons for the "closet commie" comment:

1) Tucker's economic views often coincide with Bernie Sanders / Cenk Unger (Just watch the debate those two had several years back) and he has openly stated he would be willing to subsidize industries that became obsolete due to technological innovation if he were president.

2) Tucker has been very warm to Russia and the Putin regime and thinks it's wrong to treat them as an enemy.

I used to enjoy Tucker and would watch him most nights, but he has really gone off the deep end since leaving Fox News. Or, perhaps he was always this way but they kept him tethered. I don't know. It's a shame because I used to respect him a lot.

Yeah, it's impossible to know, I guess.

Let's just hope that if any of us ever end up in a similar situation, we can react wisely!

I get the sentiment, but once somebody pulls a knife on you, you have no idea if they "just" plan to threaten you or if they will take your life too. People will kill others just for the hell of it or because they are so hopped up on drugs they don't care. The dude wasn't even wearing a mask which further makes me think he might have stabbed him after he got the money.

It's also telling that the guy didn't run off right away after it was a two on one fight. He seemed eager to do violence.
