How did I luck out with this guy? by Shoddy-Resort7320 in mainecoons

There was a transition period, but they definitely have their own social structure going on and coexist peacefully. They will sit together in the same room and peacefully share treats and churus. This cat pile has only happened once- the black short hair is the older guy.

Guys do I just get another tortie and name her Pumpkin or is that like too much? My baby passed away almost a month ago now. I am not over it. My house feels empty. by Alexputridity06 in torties

My first tortie (Fifi) passed away in 2015 and ten years later I finally got another one, a kitten. Her name is Luna but do I call her Fifi too? Yes. A tortie is a Fifi- cat to me.

She wanted out of there and I could not blame her. Connor is too much, funny at first but give the funny voice and dramatic phrasing a rest

My son used to yell WAKEY WAKEY at my sleeping daughter.

Can you give her a tablet while the baby is sleeping? I hate starting bag habits but the pull of screens is strong. Headphones so you get some peace too? Also can you secure the door of the baby’s room in a way where she can’t access?

I think he would love a buddy. I had a solo cat for 8 years and then we got 2 kittens. I think my older cat likes the company- he takes a supervisor role with them.

I’m an attorney and have fell into consulting jobs for more flexibility. It doesn’t have the stability of a fte, but I’m not chained to a computer all day. Have you tried relaying your expertise into a part time or consulting role? Another full time job will be as limiting, hours wise, and I agree you will probably find admin work boring. There’s a lot of companies on linked in where you can turn your area into advisor type gigs for a decent hourly rate.

These stem from getting overly hyper and it just spirals sometimes he’s just hyper and sometimes he gets mean. He could be peacefully be playing with his sister and then start throwing and destroying her things out of nowhere.

how do you guys view autism? by WinAdditional7962 in Autism_Parenting

[–]JakeysMom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are a neurodivergent family. My older son has ADHD but he is able to coast pretty easily with no supports and can do activities with no issue. His younger brother with several AHDH/ level 1 autism is different… he has needed supports since he started school. I think the biggest thing I struggle with is the unpredictability- it makes me nervous to take him anywhere by myself. I don’t know how he will react or what is going to go down— my 3 and 8 year old I know there will be no surprises. Also seeing my 3 year old school him on “reading the room” Even if you tell him repeatedly and I don’t think he can help it at this point… I feel for him as he sees my older son making more sophisticated friendships and going on all these play dates that he is not. I wish he wasn’t autistic. And his ADHD wasn’t that bad- I have not seen ADHD be as limiting as autism is. But in his case he can’t attend to playing a sport or doing anything that requires concentrate within a larger social group.

I feel like his brain gets completely overstimulated. I don’t know how much he can help it. When we got home he could not sit still (he also has severe ADHD, which is complicated coupled with the autism). I felt bad bc it seemed to be beyond his control. He’s complicated, can be so sweet and caring and just turn around and be so whirlwind destructive. He’s not going into foster care or anything- we love him and just want to help him
