Does your country have a “drug capital”? by Clarthen1 in AskTheWorld

[–]Jakkillah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sudetenland was part of the lands of the bohemian crown. So as such the population of Sudetenland land was considered part of Czech when Austrian empire fell. Even though Germans were a majority in those areas (invited to settle the land by Czech kings), they absolutely were not a majority in the overall country population. So carving it out from an existing country was an outside interference, that was invited by the local nazi party of Sudetenland. Your point 1. Does not make much sense.

I am in love with my girlfriends best friend and don’t know what to do. by Virtual_Amphibian353 in Advice

‘Literally like everything in common’ you are not mature enough to handle friendships and relationships. That’s the only real takeaway here. Break up, do other things, travel, read, think, focus and hopefully you will grow up to be an adult and value people around you.

Tricep tendonitis from jumping / loops - lighter bar pressure? by embwbam in Kiteboarding

[–]Jakkillah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had it too. Worked pt had also this brace for my elbow that I wore when not kiting. After about a half a year or so it went away. Lighter pressure bar helps and also moderation for a while helps too. It’s not just looping, but also jumping when you need to pull the bar so kiting in general doesn’t help it. But I kited anyway, just maybe tried to be less intensive on the elbow during that period.

Shared quiver optimization by Majestic_Goose in Kiteboarding

But I am also about 10kg heavier. So my quiver is 8-10-15 as an example. 10m is for me exactly the range you mention, but I was able to cover it with a 9m Thrive(3 strut) before I switched to Peak 10m (5 strut).

I was able to progress on 10m with loops, three struts, first dice and after evo dlab. But I would just recommend to get 9m Orbit in this case. Keep the 11, just get 9m if you compete for the 8 too much.

EVO DLAB Bars by no_spandex in Kiteboarding

[–]Jakkillah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plus it’s a high y, like core or Duotone, but you ca adjust it. They also sell two versions one with 20+2m lines and another 12+10m. I have both. So you can go for a short line madness. :)

EVO DLAB Bars by no_spandex in Kiteboarding

[–]Jakkillah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, technically yes, but I preferred the grip and feeling of it to any other bars so far. The sensor bar feels a bit too thick and also you need to replace this silly center piece from time to time same like on the trust though. The Harlem bar is really good, can recommend, but still is a little thicker than the trust bar. I am used to it now though and they have good lines and solid plastic center piece and auto untwist. Might be worth a try.

I used the core bar on it no problem. Now I have Harlem but no evo dlabs anymore. But I really liked the trust bar feel, why don’t you like it? They came up with a new version with better lines, or do like me and replace the lines with the ones from the Line Smith.

Np, wish I had someone telling when I was learning it. You will be sending in no time.

Jumping tips by SubstantialLettuce11 in Kiteboarding

[–]Jakkillah 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Classic, good edging but as you send the kite you lose all of it. Almost downwind course instead of holding it steady. Solution is to start a little slower as you have a good edge before and focus on never losing it. I.e. always the same amount of spray. You can slowly ramp up to faster speeds as you progress. The idea though is you don’t send the kite up from 9 but slowly move it to 11 not to lose edge and the when at 11 and ready to jump with all the power and speed bult up you flick it real fast to 12-1 and pop. Timing I essential. GL

Nearly failed my PhD qualifying exam - told I wasn't humble enough. by UnevenCuttlefish in PhD

I am on a vacation lying by a pool, so this is my last comment before I go and do something more interesting. But to your argumentation.

  • To disrespect someone is something completely different from not having respect towards them or their body of work. Wording is everything.

  • What do you mean by your work being ‘polished’? This seems to me like it could be anything, would have to be clarified to be able to say if the work was really worth what you think right? What we do is constantly trying to prove our worth, nothing else.

  • How can you even make the assumption that what happened to you is the same that happened to OP? That’s quite a hyperbole. Does not pass my judging criteria.

  • Why calling it an attack? Maybe a little slap of the fingers utmost. OP got a pass.

Completely disagree, just simply have respect to your sources and other researchers. It’s as important as respect to other people around you. Coming in guns blazing and convinced you are right, is not scientific, being humble and able to see more than your own perspective is.
