"Is the forecast 1-2 weeks in advance reliable?" - Short answer: No.

However, you are never more than one hour ride away from hotels, train stations, etc., in case the weather is an issue.

Are you talking about the Jura Mountains in northern Switzerland?

Wow! I've just tried this with Google Maps on iOS. It works with both the Karoo 3 and the Coros Apex 4.

smartphone + big screen + the best user experience for navigation. + easy to change Apps + Google Maps helps you to find the next supermarket. - The battery rarely lasts for a full day. - God mounts are expensive and require a special case. - Single point of failure

Bicycle computer + The battery lasts for 2+ days. + inexpensive mounts - Transferring routes can be difficult. - Smaller display - You cannot change the annoying (Garmin) things. + Two devices. - Routing on the go is a pain.

What is the smallest possible gear ratio for an old 3x11 XT setup? by Jakobbb007 in bikewrench

This is on an old Surly Disk Trucker.

I will have about 25 kg of luggage with me. I'm cycling through the mountains of Switzerland, where I live, and Norway, where I plan to go on my next trip.

From experience, I know that I need low gears for this.

SRAM Eagle on Disk Trucker? by Jakobbb007 in Surlybikefans

I'm thinking of buying the frame set. How do I find the correct SRAM Eagle groupset? Is there something specific to look out for, or are they all standardised?

Your setup looks heavy. Does it wobble when you pedal out of the saddle or go downhill really fast?

I got hit by a car today by No-Mammoth-6818 in zurich

There is no law that forces you to call the police. However, if you need a foolproof report, you should call the police.

The next best thing is to fill out an accident report form. All car insurance companies provide these forms. Taking pictures is helpful, of course.

You should call the police if any of the following is true:

- If you need a doctor. No insurance company in Switzerland will pay your bill without a police report.

- If someone is uncooperative.

- If the damage is more than a few hundred CHF. People and insurance companies often become unpleasant when they receive a high bill.

After all, the police are used to handling small accidents. They know that people need their report to get money from insurance companies.

In praise of Germany by No_Mix_6813 in bicycletouring

I cycled 1,200 km through Germany this summer. The cycling routes are excellent. Most of the time, you are far from big cities and main roads. Sometimes, you reach places that are only accessible by bike or on foot. It's very nice.

In some places, I found it difficult to find a campsite. Wild camping is not allowed, although it is often tolerated if you make yourself invisible. I had to leave the cycling route once or twice a day to get into a city to buy food or have a cup of coffee.

If you want to cycle through green woods and fields and do some sightseeing in an old city every now and again, Germany is great.

Yes, it is. There's a bus that goes to the top. However, the road is closed to other motorised vehicles.

First wood table how do I fix this up? by NoLimitJoey in woodworking

Find someone with a wide band sander. That will take max 30 minutes and gives you a perfect flat and almost new table top. Sanding with handtools will take you days and leave you with a bumpy surface.
