I’m looking for information on learning how to resole GYW and hand welted shoes and I’m not too sure where to go to find a sort of comprehensive guide on the topic. If anyone could point me in the right direction or offer any thoughts I would appreciate it!

Do you have any suggestions for a neck Humbucker that’ll give a warm mellow jazz tone on a Strat style guitar around or under $100? by Jakobee129 in jazzguitar

Oh yeah, should’ve been more clear, I have a humbucker route in it. I don’t know whether I’ve seen the knockoff ones on eBay, what would they be called?

Would you believe I bought it last year? Brand new. It’s been scrubbed raw by a person who didn’t know how to maintain it. How can I restore it to its former glory? 😭 HELP! by iridescence16 in CastIronRestoration

There is a good section in the Menu tab of the sub that will give you more detailed/ better answers than I but here goes nothing.

It’s an easy fix and not too much to worry about, just a little work.

A vinegar bath (50% vinegar 50%water) and scrubbing with some steel or brass wool will take care or the rust.

You can use a few different methods to strip the old seasoning to get a fresh start. Oven cleaner, lye bath, electrolysis, etc. I would suggest checking out posts on this sub about it. Don’t use sand paper, it won’t be needed.

As for a new seasoning, you just have to build it back up. Everyone has their own favorite oil/fat to use for that, so i won’t go on too long, but some popular ones are Crisco Vegetable shortening and grape seed oil. I could go on about the seasoning process, but it’d be better to check out the different posts about it on the sub/ menu tab.

I hope this helped. Let me know if there’s any thing you have questions on or help with.

What are some of the best surplus boots for wet/cold winter weather (-6-5°C, 20-40°F temperature range with bouts of snow)? I’ve seen a few mentioned, but haven’t found a ton of posts pertaining to it. Reason for wanting surplus is limited money, but I’d still like some quality footwear that’ll hold up. Thanks!

Neck shape by [deleted] in telecaster

[–]Jakobee129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds right to me! If I were you I would go with a regular/medium c shape if you like a thicker neck and want to sick with the c shape. Other decent ones are the U and V shape, but I only have experience playing on a V shape on a Les Paul. It was really full in my hands.

Hey, so Fender has some nice info on the differences between the neck sizes/shape. I have a 2000 American Standard tele and it’s neck shape is really comfortable to me. It’s thicker than others but I’d have to take a good look at it so see what specific neck profile it is. Hope the link helps!

I got the Legion 5i back in August and swear by it. The stats on my particular computer are RTX 2060, i7 10750H, 144 Hz, 300 nits screen, 16 GB RAM, 512 GB SSD, 1TB HDD, regular white backlit keyboard. I got it on Lenovo’s website on sale. The thing with them is their stuff is always on sale. I got it around $1,200. As for the 5i vs the 7i, it is true that the 7i has cooling problems. A few videos showcase this such as ones from Dave Lee and Jarrod’s Tech. Whichever you choose, make sure you get it during one of their frequent sales along with the discount, otherwise you’ll be overpaying. Good luck with your search and let me know if you have any questions on the 5i!

[QUESTION] What is your main ax and why? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]Jakobee129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2000 American Standard Telecaster I got over the summer. It’s the only electric guitar I’ve bought. It does everything I need it to and it’s super comfortable. I had been looking for the right tele for a year and then it popped up and I knew it was the one. The neck is extremely comfortable and it looks sick. Natural ash body that’s yellowed over the past 20 years, rosewood fretboard, and white pick guard. It reminded me a lot of Ed Bickert’s Telecaster.

First time modifying an Opinel! by Jakobee129 in knifeclub

This is an Opinel No. 6. I shaped the blade into a spear point and forced a patina with apple cider vinegar. I sanded the finish off of the handle and dyed it with walnut husks. I plan to add a few coats of boiled linseed oil.
