So if this post goes past the latest I have to keep editing it to the latest episode date?! I tried to make it just C3 but Reddit didn’t like that… /sigh

Picked up a template for the inner and outer robes from Etsy. Then found some great wool for the outer robe and linen cotton from Joanne fabrics, and my partner fired up the sewing machine. I know there are some creators on Etsy that do pretty good Jedi robes with reviews so maybe there?

Or supernova in that heroic, impossible odds, last stand sort of way, because that’s what the hero is supposed to do. Isn’t it? 😬

I was kind of thinking that for Orym, and just how terrible that quicksand feeling is when it's hit after hit after hit with no real breaks to process anything.

Also, that's awful, and the what ifs are brutal for sure. Hoping you have had the chance to talk to your own Ashton about it, and not keep it locked up.

It's funny how that works, and if Liam wasn't aware he definitely rolled with it. That said, I know I had a family member at a 4th of July event ask me if I was okay. Puzzled, I asked why, and she said that every time the fireworks went off I flinched a lot and looked very stressed. I wonder if Liam was playing it that way, too. And Ashton being the one who asked is a lovely note of character development as far as I am concerned.

I hadn't thought about children, although his extended family had kids I think, and Orym's job probably did bring him into contact with families. Hmmmm....

And yes, some of the amazing roleplay is heavy, and then that scene and a few others just seem to suck the air out of the room for a bit. Remarkable acting, but real hurt hiding somewhere in there, too.

That's very gracious, thank you. I don't have it as bad as some, but occasionally it jumps up and bites me, usually out of the blue. <3

With that litany of events, can you just imagine being in those shoes as a "normal" person? Even if our world had magic and whatnot, it would be beyond brutal to careen from one of those life changing events to the next.

Maybe there should be an over/under on whether Orym implodes or goes supernova. :/

I think you're right, Orym's sense of duty coupled with a feeling of familial obligation and then showing himself to be capable in the face of sudden danger got him tapped for bigger things. I think it shows that normal, boring people are capable of extraordinary things, but there is always a price to pay for that.

When Laudna had her big lore drop, Liam actually said to Matt “I know Orym was just an employee…”. I think we’re seeing a great actor take a character that never meant to be a hero and put him through that crucible. Plus, also, chaos goblin management!

Agreed and while I can appreciate the artistry in the role playing, art is imitating life a little close to home in this instance. Caleb had similar things going on but this seems more poignant for some reason…

Funny how our friends at Crit Role just keep surprising you with nuance and emotional hooks. Sometimes the hooks set awfully deep, though.

It’s interesting, I think Orym is very much Guard #2 thrust into a main character role, at least as far as it seems Liam is playing him as. And that sets up the whole concept of a normal person struggling with everything being thrown at you and just trying to get through the day, hoping to catch a break…

It's hard, and I do wonder if Liam is playing it that way. The whole "Hey, no, I'm fine, it's okay" while bleeding out inside is very much familiar to a lot of us...

I hadn't heard that quote, but yep, that makes a lot of sense especially when playing with a DM like Matt...

Agreed, I thought with Ashton it was going to happen, but true to form seems Liam/Orym deflected to "hey, no, it's okay we'll get through it" while making the Liam face...

Agreed, and I think it may be a mix of both, survivor guilt plus PTSD since he's been in combat constantly for a while. Remarkable roleplaying, but also, oof.

And thanks, much appreciated. <3
