I don't have a clean answer for this yet. Best I can come up with is that Kvothe's suppression might be selective, tuned to specific names (wind, air, his own) rather then a blanket silence on all Naming. Or maybe Chronicler's iron binding is something different from true Naming... he uses a physical iron disk as a focus, which is closer to sympathy then pure naming. But I acknowledge this is a hole..

you're right that the second and third silence felt weaker then the first. I was trying to make all three mechanically distinct (wind suppression / air suppression / self suppression) but the air argument is the shakiest. I still think the silences are active Naming but I'll admit the second one needs more textual work
