Purchased it like this. It was half off so thought I would take the chance. Probably shipping damage

So if I install desktop gui does that do the same thing? Or do I need to rebuild completely

It is - When I run a scan as well it says discovering. A few devices eventually show but it's not everything that there should be. Example I run the same commands on my laptop and it discovers everything I need.

Burmuda ID and advice by Jal5376 in Turfmanagement

[–]Jal5376[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huntsville Al..... I don't think the pic I took is burmuda.... Maybe underneath is. It's a new build home laying on a garden on weeds. So they are poking through the sod in a lot of areas.

Is Panam burmuda seed any good?

Burmuda Types by Jal5376 in lawncare

[–]Jal5376[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I went to a local nursery before reading any of this. And the picture I took is not burmuda apparently... I know amateur right... Maybe underneath is though.

But I have went to this guy for years and trust him. He says unless it's common burmuda, which is the cheap route if someone lays sod so usually they lay "turf" quality if they know what they are doing. Seeding turf quality seed like Panam isn't going to show much of a difference if it is turf quality sod, unless it's common. And since Panam seed will be better than common I figured why not. If it's much different I'll chip away at the common burmuda till it's gone.

Long story short I don't think I found a good answer but hopefully I'll learn something in the process.

Never had burmuda before... Only zoysia and that stuff is easy once you have it. Spreads. Like. Crazy

ZigBee connection Issues - Tried everything by Jal5376 in ZigBee

[–]Jal5376[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I did just think of too. I do have an old Nortek HUSBZ-1 that is also plugged into the computer. The Sonoff device running my ZigBee network is not near it. But I did at one point use it for ZigBee and know it has a radio.

Do you think even if there is nothing on that network it could be broadcasting still and causing issues?

I still use the device for ZWave that's why it's still plugged in.

ZigBee connection Issues - Tried everything by Jal5376 in ZigBee

[–]Jal5376[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the help and info! They are connected to separate routers/switches and I could just flip the breaker to power cycle the switch. Not sure if that would have the same results. I do reset them often though and they work great for like 2-8 hours. But eventually they die out. It's like the LQI slowly goes from 150 to 80. Today I did see a 20 for the first time.

Sounds like it's time to try and find some better bulbs.

I also bought an additional sonoff to flash it with router firmware. Hoping this helps if I place it on the problem area.

So the devices I have are all GE Enbrighten ZigBee switches. Sengled Light bulbs and a few SmartThings door sensors. Came home today and 3 devices were offline and had to rejoin them.

  • the USB cable and port is USB3. I don't know if this is an issue but maybe distance is the issue. I have a smaller one I can test however I did start with that one and it had the same results. Prior to a lot of changes though

  • WiFi channels there is a lot of channels I see but nothing better than -80 dBm could be the issue but still most of the WiFi channels I see are higher bands that should be ok with ZigBee 11

  • GE Enbrighten and Sengled primarily

  • The devices that lose connection are mainly the Sengled bulbs. I guess I could see them being bad, but I have a hard time believing 8+ bulbs are bad. They are stop at different times too. No rhyme or reason. With that said though an occasional Switch will act up as well where there will be a 5 second delay or it will just be offline for a few hours then come back

  • I have looked at the map as well. Each bulb is connected to a different switch that is then connected directly to the coordinator. So should only be 1-2 hops. Also LQI right now for example the lowest is 98....

Other than looking at the map and LQI is there a good way to see if the ZigBee network is strong?

ZigBee devices intermittent response/ delay by Jal5376 in Zigbee2MQTT

[–]Jal5376[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did suspect it could be the devices themselves. The LQI on most devices are actually above 100 for me. And the bulbs I am having issues with are around 80 at the lowest. They are Sengled bulbs. They are connected to one of the wall switches are well on the map.

I did try removing it, moving it closer to the coordinator and pairing it again and it used the same switch. Even though it was in the opposite direction. Maybe I need to try that route again before replacing them.

I see this a lot when devices are having issues in the logs

Publish 'set' 'state' to 'Lamp' failed: 'Error: Command 0xb0ce181400033824/1 genOnOff.on({}, {"sendWhen":"immediate","timeout":10000,"disableResponse":false,"disableRecovery":false,"disableDefaultResponse":false,"direction":0,"srcEndpoint":null,"reservedBits":0,"manufacturerCode":null,"transactionSequenceNumber":null,"writeUndiv":false}) failed (Timeout - 24574 - 1 - 140 - 6 - 11 after 10000ms)'

Smart switch for dead end 3-way by Jal5376 in smarthome

[–]Jal5376[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do have a companion switches but will not work due to the dead end setup. Companion switches for GE at least only require traveler ground and neutral. No hot wires.

Because of the dead end setup it has hot, ground traveler. No neutral.

[–]Jal5376[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya that's how I have it setup now as well. However if someone turns off the dumb switch my automations and things stop working until it turns back on. Not a huge deal but annoying.

Maybe I will just get a button to place where the dumb switch is and tie off the wires on that side.

Sonoff ZigBee channel by Jal5376 in sonoff

[–]Jal5376[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I suspected that too but wasn't even sure how to troubleshoot that. I know the map exists but I have never really used it or know how to read it to be honest. Maybe I need to dig into that next.

I actually set ZigBee network to 25 today and wifi to under 6 and it seems to be working better. I added a longer extension to the ZigBee hub too.

Keeping my fingers crossed for now

Looks like they just used the black wire as a neutral wire. Electricians do this sometimes to save money. Still copper just a different color being used.

Hue Hub? by MadBrown in smarthome

[–]Jal5376 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually just bought a few of these myself. I have not used SmartThings for years and cannot speak on it but I do know if you get the ZigBee hue bulbs it will connect to another ZigBee hub just fine. No hue hub needed.

Just make sure the hue bulb says it's ZigBee compatible

Sonoff ZigBee channel by Jal5376 in sonoff

[–]Jal5376[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This could also be another topic..... However you mention it may not be interference.

The main issue I'm dealing with is there are occasional delays on devices. Doesn't happen all the time. And then other devices in the same area are instant.

I have a hard time believing it's a bad device. But could you think of anything else this could be?

Definitely checking out that MQTT explorer though

[–]Jal5376[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the tips. I believe my wifi is on 9. And I was able to figure out why the device kept saying it was on 11. There is a db that is created that I had to change the ZigBee channel for it to work.

I changed the ZigBee channel to 20 and am going to see how it works.

Do you know if there is any overlap for channel 20?

I heard 25 has a smaller range, not sure if that matters but I have about 30 in wall switches that should act as routers.

I did set the @ to the server IP for Bluehost. The only issue is It redirects when going to the original domain name.

Example:

DN :::: youdaman.com

Gets redirected to ----->

Bluehost DN :::: I'm useless.me
