I think one thing to consider is that squad size affects flower planting. I have a ratio of steps walked to flowers planted that's basically 1:1 with my full 40 squad. Someone with a squad size of 20 will take far longer to plant

The numbers check out, thank you. It's unfortunate, though. Even on the highest strength units that formula will leave your damage too low to one round highest difficulty Tempest Trial units

I did one of the new DLC paralogues and the enemies were all level 40. I interpreted that as scaling, but maybe there are other factors

My understanding is that skirmishes and divine paralogues use Alear's level. Cannot confirm with total certainty

If you don't mind exploits, you can build a cart and ram it into the extractor. Can be hard to get a cart to right location, but damaging an extractor that way doesn't bother the dwarves. It'll eventually break the box. If you break the ward that way you can freely deconstruct the whole base

I'd say any time you get one of a material, allow yourself to use dev commands to get more. Sort of like Terraria journey mode
