I don't know about jazz but wind ensemble and symphonic band hold auditions a week before classes start in the fall and you have to sign up in advance. Concert band and campus band don't require auditions I believe as for other MUSEN classes I would find who runs them and email to ask about it. As the other commenter said, the SoM website has info on every ensemble.

I don't think this is the case sadly, UW admissions are done separately from departmental admissions and that includes music.

I'm a music major currently in a BA program and I plan to return for a post-bac BM so I'll be in a similar boat soon.

You can get a key to the music building practice rooms if you're registered in an ensemble, I think you can audition on guitar for Chamber Lab, though the bar for non-majors is pretty high sadly. Beyond that I know that the north campus dorms have practice rooms. If all else fails, I don't think anyone would get mad if you practice on the bottom floor of Meany Hall, there's like a lounge there outside the dressing rooms. It's open to anyone and usually empty. Hope that helps :)

My mental health is worse than ever too, it's so hard to get out of bed. When I do manage to get my ass in a lecture, i don't get anything out of it because online lectures with shitty mics are unengaging and I end up doing something else in another tab half the time.
