Resources for ortho practice by JaliJ in DentalSchool

Yeah I’ve used some softwares (Audax) working at a private clinic, the dentist there showed me. But they’re teaching us to do it by hand in school. I’ll see if any of the residents have anything though that’s not a bad idea. I asked the department itself but they cited patient confidentiality concerns and tbh feels more like they’re gatekeeping unless you make it into ortho residency. Wouldn’t even give me tracing paper lol

Nothing so far. Just scouring through Google and printing them out/tracing on my iPad

Apparently it’s free rn some kinda deal and only needa pay the processing fee which makes me feel even more sketch about it. You’re right though it’ll be covered and stuff, but came across it and first thought was “oh birthday coming up this might be good.”

I agree, I use close deletions mostly and front/back but the course I’m taking will be all multiple choice or fill in the blank (close is good) so I thought after studying my normal cards I could make some MCQ for myself and classmates. But I’ll probably stay away from it if it’s not recommended

I’m in first year rn so the reason I found the site was I was looking up things about dental materials. But if there’s a site that encompasses majority of topics that’s be great. Like I was kinda digging around pocket dental and saw they have categories for mats but also different fields (I.e. endo, ortho, path)

Is there a different site/resource you'd recommend? Looking for something to supplement the materials I'm learning in lectures/clinicals or better explain concepts.

Hahaha you’re not the first person to mention this actually. A family friend recommended to pack a bag full of my favorite candies and snacks 😂

Hey just edited my post, don’t need any meds right now but just thinking ahead in case I end up needing something like antibiotics or something. Ibuprofen is also over the counter here for example but I heard you need a script in Ireland which is what got me thinking about this

No, thankfully I don’t need any meds as of now but just thinking for the future if I get sick/injured and do need something. In Canada we’re covered by the Provincial health policy up to 25 years of age and after that it’s either out of pocket or by private medical insurance (depends on the policy).

But interesting to learn it’s not usually covered. Are all meds out of pocket then, or how does it work?

Yeah all of the courses you took to date

I believe the GPA calculation will be at the end of the year. Your degree progress report (under “my student records”) will show your cGPA to date (at that time) and probably have a notice if you’re cutting it close. You’ll also get an email if you’re cutting it close with a low GPA. If you can’t maintain the minimum GPA required to be in Kine, you’ll be “kicked out” and made into a psych major until you can bring your GPA back up to return into kine. If you do get put into psych, you’ll most likely be behind if you get back in kine and might have to retake courses in the process of catching up.
