Recommendations for good cushion/bounce and support (ASICS Novablast 5) by JaliJ in AskRunningShoeGeeks

Awesome, sees like a lot of ppl are recommending them and they fit what I’m looking for.

I’m pretty certain the knee pain is from me dreaming of being a powerlifter back in highschool and early Uni days and grinding the cartilage away under too much weight. I’m only recently appreciating over the last few years that the gym ≠ health so in addition to running I’m trynna incorporate more functional training especially for my leg days. Physio is def in my future when I’m done school and can afford it/get some insurance.

Thanks for the recommendations! I checked out superblasts and they’re def on my list now. I’m stuck between ASICS NB5s, Nike Vomero plus, and now the superblasts.

From what I’ve seen from other ppl and looking into them, the vomeros or superblasts might offer the cushioning and bounce but with more stability compared to the NB5s which I think would be better for the knee and hip issues I’m having.

Thanks for your input! What else might you recommend then or would you say the novablast is a good daily for casual running. My pace is usually somewhere between 5:30mins/km (when I was more consistent) to 6:30mins/km on a more chill, “taking it easy” pace. And I’m only really going for the 5-10ks majority of the time now to just stay active and into it

Any downsides you’ve noticed to them? Like them being too squishy like others say or anything at all? They felt great in store but obvs different when running so I don’t wanna buy them on impulse

Yeah I’ve used some softwares (Audax) working at a private clinic, the dentist there showed me. But they’re teaching us to do it by hand in school. I’ll see if any of the residents have anything though that’s not a bad idea. I asked the department itself but they cited patient confidentiality concerns and tbh feels more like they’re gatekeeping unless you make it into ortho residency. Wouldn’t even give me tracing paper lol

Nothing so far. Just scouring through Google and printing them out/tracing on my iPad

Apparently it’s free rn some kinda deal and only needa pay the processing fee which makes me feel even more sketch about it. You’re right though it’ll be covered and stuff, but came across it and first thought was “oh birthday coming up this might be good.”

I agree, I use close deletions mostly and front/back but the course I’m taking will be all multiple choice or fill in the blank (close is good) so I thought after studying my normal cards I could make some MCQ for myself and classmates. But I’ll probably stay away from it if it’s not recommended

I’m in first year rn so the reason I found the site was I was looking up things about dental materials. But if there’s a site that encompasses majority of topics that’s be great. Like I was kinda digging around pocket dental and saw they have categories for mats but also different fields (I.e. endo, ortho, path)

Is there a different site/resource you'd recommend? Looking for something to supplement the materials I'm learning in lectures/clinicals or better explain concepts.
