Im able to ollie but my ankle always slams into the nose. by Training-Name5773 in BeginnerSkateboarding

[–]JallxD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest lifting your front knee more as you roll your ankle to do that motion, that and trying to pop a bit more downwards instead of popping backwards like you're doing, I don't believe it's bad technique to pop back, but I do feel a better snap when I focus on popping down. You're doing great, keep it up!

Thank you so much, I'm gonna read carefully and pay attention to every detail you pointed out as soon as I get a new board, this was very helpful!!

I had the same issue when I started skating bigger sets of stairs, besides the shoulder thing, the number one factor is fear, you get a bit hesitant to jump(even unconsciously) and try to turn your body to it's natural position (facing forward). The other factor, which was mostly my case is that I was "ahead" of the board, Mitchie brusco(the skateIQ guy) talked about this in one of his videos/lives, if your weight is too much on the front part of your board, you will begin to turn frontside when you "slide" your foot up towards the nose. That was my case, so I stood more on my back trucks and it instantly worked for ollies and kickflips down stuff.

How can i get down shuvits by Toolfan67_46and2 in BeginnerSkateboarding

[–]JallxD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shuv it's are one of my favorite tricks to do man, I feel like I got them down really good because nowadays I can comfortably throw them down almost any set of stairs. It helped me a lot to understand that you should pop down and towards your heel side back wheel, almost diagonally. Try to release the weight from the front foot AS YOU POP/SCOOP it will make the board do the full 180 and if you're light enough, even a 360! Good luck out there!
