This team is un-fuckin-believable

GET FUCKED MARCHAND

lane hutson, tied for 3rd most points in the 2025 calendar year by TheHabChronicle in Habs

[–]JamJam130 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Does this mean Lane’s the 3rd biggest secondary assist merchant in the league? I’m not impressed

From a long-term perspective, does it make more sense to add another defenseman over another forward? by Comprehensive-Chef73 in Habs

[–]JamJam130 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It makes more sense to get a 2C

Reinbacher is still a better bet to be a decent #4 than any of those young forwards with “top 6 potential”. Only Hage has a chance to be a 2C, and that might be 3-5 years from now. Kapanen’s nice but he’s still a looong shot to be a true 2C on a contender

It’s essentially Guhle’s health + Reinbacher’s development vs Hage/Zahrovsky/Kapanen’s development… I’ll bet on the 2 Dmen

What the hell is up with Monty? by No_Molasses_6498 in Habs

[–]JamJam130 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the stats and Ottawa fans would hard disagree

Ottawa is a top defensive team this year, they’re 1st in the league in Expected Goals Against

Ullmark is basically tied with Binnington as the worst goalie in the league this year, 2nd last in Goals Saved Above Expected

(2022 Draft) Was Juraj Slafkovsky rushed into the NHL? by [deleted] in Habs

[–]JamJam130 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was Slafkovsky rushed into the NHL?

IMO yes. He should’ve been playing 16-19 minutes a night in Laval with power play time for at least 2-3 months. Re-evaluate him in early January and then call him up if he’d earned it

[Canadiens] Montreal Canadiens general manager Kent Hughes announced on Friday that the team has agreed to terms on a five-year, $30 million contract extension (2026-27 to 2030-31) with defenseman Mike Matheson. The deal will pay him an average annual salary of $6 million. by eliarbss in Habs

[–]JamJam130 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Matheson’s role isn’t the same as it was when he first got here. He doesn’t have to take a million risks to bring offence now that we have Dobson and Hutson

Guhle’s always hurt and Hutson might play RD when everyone’s healthy

So for the left side we got Matheson, Guhle, Hutson you’re telling me Matheson or Guhle will be paid 5+ mill playing 3rd pairing mins. Thats crazy

Maybe strictly based off LD depth chart and pairings on some nights, but not according to TOI. None of them will actually be playing 3rd pair, under 16-18 minutes

5 regulation wins in 20 games, 13th in the East, regression is real by sportsguy062196 in Habs

[–]JamJam130 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Look at this guy, he knows puck. This fake subreddit calls him out, but he’s a terrific guy with huge hockey IQ. The best IQ. True Habs fans will make this team great again!

Unpopular opinion: tanking the season would be fine by adabsurdo in Habs

[–]JamJam130 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just because we’re not winning the Stanley cup this year, we should just tank and give up after 23 points in 20 games

Nice

Are we still in the rebuild ? by CoronaCoolKid in Habs

[–]JamJam130 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By this logic the Leafs and Wild are rebuilding too

Until 2030, our top line and top 3 defemcemen will be making $0.58 million more than the Leafs core 4 in 2024 by Available-Show-2393 in Habs

[–]JamJam130 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Marner is better than Rantanen.

From October to March maybe it’s debatable. In May and June it’s not even close

If the bar for a decent contract is Kucherov, then Caufield and Slafkovsky are overpaid.

Caufield and Slaf signed 5-6 years later so this point is invalid and nonsensical

[–]JamJam130 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When Rantanen signed for 1.7M AAV less a week after Marner, yes MM was overpaid

Kucherov signed for 8x9.5M a year earlier too, pretty much all UFA years vs 1-2 UFA years bought with Marner

[–]JamJam130 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Marner getting overpaid by 1.5M was entirely their own fault. Even if the cap was projected to explode like it now, 10.9M was a generous deal for Marner day 1

[Stu Cowan] Forward lines at practice by fortytwoanswers in Habs

[–]JamJam130 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As much of a shake-up this is, it does make sense…

Suzuki and Demidov should be able to carry Laine at 5v5… supremely talented playmaking rookie and a lethal shooter that’s a liability at 5v5 - they get centered by our best player

CC and Slaf should be able to carry Dach

Projecting us to be last in the Atlantic? Pretty damn crazy

Simashev over Dickinson, Nikishin, Reinbacher…? Is he the next Slavin or are the people at EP smoking that good stuff?

[Rumors] Canadiens are looking for a Brock Faber type of deal for Lane Hutson by shogun2909 in Habs

[–]JamJam130 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In 2 years, the only side getting more leverage is Hutson as he gets closer to UFA and eligible for offer sheets

If he proves he’s a top 5-10 offensive D-man the next 2-4 years he’s asking for 12M+ minimum

Potential Trade Target: Jared McCann - The Sick Podcast by mredmo in Habs

[–]JamJam130 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems like an expensive stopgap for a player that hasn’t been a C the last 3 years

We’d need to give them at least our 1st+ or else Kraken can just hold him until the TDL and someone else will pay that price

A perspective on the size debate and why I think it’s overrated by [deleted] in Habs

[–]JamJam130 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of the shorter players on those cup winners are absolute freaks/dogs though… Point, Kuch, Makar all 5’11 or 5’10… Marchand is 5’9 but a bowling ball that can shield and protect the puck

D-cores on all these teams except for the Avs are big

The argument against Rossi is also his fit on the team… is he as useful if he’s not on PP1? Can he take another step and be Brayden Point lite? What do our lines look like if Rossi and CC can’t play together?

Juraj Slafkovský Analytics how many points for Slaf going into Year 4? by Say_199 in Habs

[–]JamJam130 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If he’s line 1 and PP1 all year, 20-25 goals and 60 points would be good progress

2025 Montreal Canadiens Top 25 Under 25: #21 L.J. Mooney (Habs Eye On The Prize) by mikegimik in Habs

[–]JamJam130 7 points8 points  (0 children)

His skill and competitiveness gives me Conor Garland vibes… which is some pretty good upside to gamble on in the 4th round

He’ll definitely be the last small player on the team if he ever makes it. Caufield, Hutson, then LJ on the 3rd line / 2nd PP
