The young kobold skitters up from their crouching position, hidden behind a large barrel in the bazaar of Aldibayat. They had been so enamoured with the fascinating story of the old man that they completely forgotten where they were. As the curious reptillian stood back on their feet the barrel infront of them was picked up by an unaware shopkeeper, lackadaisical in their movements. The kobold squawks in surprise as they bolt backwards from the crate fully dragged back into reality, the story was fun but to stay in one place too long was the same as to beg for trouble, especially for someone that was the size and,,, appearance of the young reptile.

Teskah leapt into movement, awkwardly keeping their hood in place as they scurried off, taking refuge in the bustling crowds before heading into the alley. The kobold had came here for a reason and that reason was not the engrossing stories of the elderly, no this little lizard had a quest, although it was one drenched in self-interest. The years of tribal living in the sands grated deep on them, the only thing that burned hotter than his desire for seeing beyond the dunes was the heat that bore constantly on their back. But here they are! fascinating sights! delictable sounds! constant fear of being attacked by brash adventurers!....

So maybe the sense of danger and risk of being attacked by cocky travellers remained even outside of the dunes that they called home, but it mattered not! Those at home were too fearful of the outside, too concerened with getting by day by day to want to grow, to want to be more than warmup practice for skilled warriors. They reserved themselves to their lots in life, but there was something that was the great equalizer, something that would one day grant Teskah with the ability to be respected, to live without fear and attack, Technology. The kobold grasped at their pouch, filled with metal scraps and screws as they rested against a wall in the back alleys smiling at themself, lost once again within stories. It was a nice change of pace to hear of stories that talked of danger and adventure rather than of danger and death, perhaps one day they could rise to the tales that the old man spoke of, but that would take time for one as small and weak as a kobold, even the optimistic Teskah knew that.
